bp Fuelling The Audi Revolut F1® Team in Preparation for Debut Formula 1 Race This Weekend
As the 2026 Formula 1® World Championship season gets underway in Melbourne, Australia, this weekend, bp marks the start of a new era in motorsport as the official technology partner of Audi Revolut F1® Team, pushing the boundaries to drive performance on the track.
The partnership brings bp and Audi Revolut F1® Team technologists together to jointly develop the high-performance fuel and hybrid power unit side by side. After a comprehensive development and validation process to meet the FIA’s stringent 2026 fuel requirements for advanced sustainable fuel*, bp Ultimate Racing has been formally certified by the sport’s organising body.
During this process, more than 400 fuel samples were created, testing over 200 blends in the Audi Revolut F1® Team power unit, and delivering almost a quarter of a million litres of test fuel to its Neuburg, Germany facility. Back at the track, bp will run a trackside laboratory at every race, delivering real-time diagnostics and feeding data back into the development cycle.
Luc Jolly, motorsport fluids technology lead at bp, said: “Fuel has always been a critical performance factor in Formula 1®, and this season’s regulatory changes bring an enhanced technology challenge. Now raw materials, production and advanced fuel chemistry are all key to meet the new requirements for advanced sustainable fuel*.
“We have spent the last three years optimising the blend to work seamlessly with the combustion system for maximum effectiveness. It is amazing to see our fuel inside the car, driving performance and efficiency through advanced technology.”
Nicola Buck, senior vice president for marketing at bp, added: “Our partnership with the Audi Revolut F1® Team is built on a shared ambition for the future of motorsport. We have been deeply integrated with their engineers, meticulously analysing test data and experimenting with countless blends to find the bp Ultimate Racing fuel formula. The Audi Revolut F1® Team know that they can depend on our technologists to deliver what matters, because they’re part of the very same team responsible for developing the bp Ultimate road fuel for drivers around the world.**"
Mattia Binotto, Head of the Audi F1 Project, said: “bp are fully integrated into our engineering and power unit programmes as our official technology partner, co-developing fuel through rigorous data analysis and continuous refinement. With bp embedded at every race, this partnership goes far beyond a conventional collaboration and is fundamental to competing under the 2026 regulations.”
To mark the official start of the season, bp premiered a new short film that highlights the lengths bp goes to for its partners. Attendees were welcomed by Audi Revolut F1® Team driver Nico Hulkenberg, who appears in the film.
Nico Hulkenberg, Audi Revolut F1 Team driver, added: " Working with bp as our technology partner is a crucial part of our overall package. Fuel performance and efficiency remain key areas of focus, especially under the new hybrid regulations. We are looking forward to a long and hopefully successful journey together.”
