Dr. Mehdi Alem serves as the President and CEO of Micro Detect, Inc., a Southern California- based medical diagnostics company he founded in 1997. He built an accomplished career as a microbiologist, earning a BS and MS in biology and radiobiology, as well as a PhD in microbiology from the University of Kent in the United Kingdom. He completed postdoctoral training in medical microbiology at Colorado State University and the University of Reading.

Throughout his career, he has worked as a scientist, director, and associate professor in universities, clinical laboratories, and diagnostic organizations. He has authored and coauthored numerous scientific books and articles across biology, medicine, and microbiology.
