The Opel Grandland is continuing to impress with its combination of highly efficient drivetrains, technological features and quality. After winning the ‘Golden Steering Wheel’[2] in Germany in 2024 as the ‘Best car under €50,000’, Opel’s top-of-the-line SUV went on to pick up further awards in 2025 and is continuing its success story this year. The SUV ‘made in Eisenach’ recently featured in the top 15 of the prestigious Autocosmos ‘Recommended Cars of the Year’ in Chile.

“Modern engineering, excellent ride comfort, German build quality”

Ever since its introduction in late 2024 the Opel Grandland has been turning heads as Opel’s top-of-the-line offer in the compact SUV segment. Made in Eisenach, Germany, it offers a safe and comfortable driving experience combined with numerous other state-of-the-art features. For example, the entry-level ‘Edition’ trim already includes Intelli-Seats with ergonomic recess in the seat surface as well as multimedia infotainment with a 10-inch colour touchscreen and Intelli-LED headlights. In the higher trim levels, electronic helpers such as the award-winning glare-free Intelli-Lux HD light with more than 50,000 elements, the Intelli-HUD head-up display or the 360-degree Intelli-Vision camera as well as the Intelli-Seats certified by Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V. are available. The multimedia navigation system with a 16-inch colour touchscreen provides outstanding entertainment and connectivity. Solutions such as the transparent Pixel Box in the centre console, in which one’s own smartphone can be charged wirelessly, increase practicality.

Thanks to these virtues, the Grandland delivered an impressive result in the recent Autocosmos ‘Recommended Cars of the Year’ awards in Chile finishing in the top 15. The result is all the more impressive considering that the Grandland faced off against 153 competitors from all segments with entries coming from manufacturers from China, Europe, North America, South America and India.

The reasoning from the jury was detailed very clear. “The Opel Grandland stands out with a sensible, practical proposal for buyers who prefer understated design and less screen-heavy interiors, at a higher but justifiable price point. It features modern engineering and technology: the new platform delivers strong structural rigidity and excellent ride comfort, making it smooth, comfortable, and well-planted on the road. With the 48-volt technology, it is agile and highly efficient, providing a refined and high-level driving experience. The interior is spacious and highly livable, reflecting German build quality – an attribute especially valued in Chile – combined with functional design focused on the driver and physical controls that reduce overreliance on the touchscreen. Safety also remains a core Opel pillar, with the Grandland offering a comprehensive suite of standard driver-assistance systems that are well calibrated and unobtrusive.”

Positioned for the future: Top SUV Grandland in all variants from Eisenach

For the new Opel Grandland, further investments of €130 million have been made in recent years. The plant underwent the biggest transformation in its history before the launch of the new Grandland. Thanks to the latest modernisation and further development, a wide variety of state-of-the-art and resource-saving drivetrains can be produced on the same production line. Today, all variants of the multi-award-winning SUV, from the Grandland Hybrid and Grandland Plug-in Hybrid to the battery-electric Grandland Electric Long Range and the first all-electric all-wheel-drive Opel, the Grandland Electric AWD are produced here.
