Hauler Hero Raises $16M Series A to Build the First AI-Powered Waste Management Operating System
The funding comes after a year of immense growth for Hauler Hero, doubling its customer base, managing $300M in GMV, and orchestrating 35M pickups
Hauler Hero, an all-in-one tech platform that helps waste management companies scale their businesses, today announced $16M in Series A funding led by Frontier Growth with participation from Disruptive Founders Fund, Somersault Ventures, and several waste industry and ServiceTitan executives. The funding comes after a year of accelerating customer adoption for Hauler Hero, which is using the funding to expand its suite of AI tools for haulers which are currently in beta.
The Problem: An Industry Left Behind by the Software Boom
While the AI revolution is reshaping nearly every corner of the economy, many parts of the $145 billion waste management industry have been left in the analog dark ages. Silicon Valley has poured billions into optimizing digital workflows, yet the critical physical infrastructure that keeps our communities clean and healthy is still largely run on paper route sheets, legacy on-premise software, and gut instinct. The technology to solve these problems exists but, until now, it has been built for everyone except the people doing the dirty work.
“Hauler Hero has transformed how we operate. We’ve cut billing time in half and automated our routing, which means our team can focus on growth instead of paperwork,” said Alex Babbitt, Owner and Founder of Carolina Waste. “The platform scales with us, and we can manage everything from our phones and handle more customers without adding administrative staff. We’re serving 25,000 customers now, and I have no doubt that when we get to 100,000 customers and beyond, Hauler Hero will be right there to keep up with that growth.”
Hauler Hero’s Solution: Worldclass AI for Waste Management
Hauler Hero solves this with an all-in-one AI platform that acts as the central operating system for waste management companies. The platform automates core functions of a hauler’s business, including invoicing, routing, dispatch, and customer engagement with a single, intuitive interface. By replacing fragmented legacy systems with a streamlined AI workflow, Hauler Hero saves office employees more than 14 hours per week on administrative tasks. This operational efficiency drives significant improvements in cash collection and client satisfaction, allowing haulers to reduce customer churn and scale their fleets without adding headcount.
The company is currently in the process of developing and testing its new suite of AI agents:
- Hero Vision: A truck-based camera system that utilizes computer vision to automatically identify service issues and revenue opportunities.
- Hero Chat: An AI-powered communication suite to automate text, email, and chat responses for residents, handling routine queries instantly.
- Hero Routing: Leveraging data from millions of stops, the AI engine dynamically adjusts routes to save fuel, reduce mileage, and accommodate real-time exceptions.
Together, these agents move haulers from reactive operations to proactive, exception-based management. By identifying missed services, routing inefficiencies, and billing and margin discrepancies, these agents help haulers capture revenue that historically leaked through manual processes.
“Hauler Hero’s team is passionate about improving workflows in a massive, underserved vertical that is critical to the health and safety of every community across the country,” said Dave Pandullo, Partner at Frontier Growth. “They aren’t just selling software, they are fundamentally changing the unit economics of waste collection.”
In the past year, Hauler Hero has doubled its customer base and scaled its operations to support over 200 waste management companies ranging from independent haulers to major municipalities and haulers like West Oahu Aggregate, the City of Sunnyvale, the City of Redlands, and Greenleaf Recycling. The platform’s usage metrics highlight this shift to enterprise scale: organizations now use Hauler Hero to complete 4.5 million pickups per month, process over $300 million in annualized GMV, and serve over 750,000 commercial and residential waste generators with a service and payment portal.
“Waste collection is one of the most essential services in society, yet it’s been run on outdated tools for decades,” said Mark Hoadley, co-founder and CEO of Hauler Hero. “We’re building the operating system that finally brings modern data, automation, and AI to the people who keep our villages, cities, and industries running every day.”
