Telefónica Tech connects Fermax video door entry systems with IoT technology
● Telefónica’s digital business unit provides its managed IoT connectivity solution through its Kite platform to enable more secure and efficient building access management from anywhere.
Fermax, a Spanish manufacturer with more than 75 years of experience and a world leader in video door entry, access control and connected home solutions, has chosen Telefónica Tech as its technology partner to provide IoT connectivity to its video door entry systems in Spain, as well as in other European countries such as France and Portugal.
Telefónica’s digital business unit is implementing its managed IoT connectivity solution from its Kite platform to enable Fermax to have complete visibility and centralised control, in real time and remotely, over all its video door entry systems connected via SIM cards.
Telefónica Tech has already provided connectivity to more than 27,000 Fermax video door entry panels to ensure communications with mobile networks. These video door entry systems are equipped with 4G technology and integrate a non-removable SIM-IoT card.
Ángel Sánchez, Director of Business Development at Fermax, states: “This agreement is part of Fermax’s strategy to promote connected access solutions, supported by reliable and managed IoT connectivity. Having a technology partner like Telefónica Tech allows us to operate our fleet of connected panels centrally, scale with confidence and lay a solid foundation for the development of new digital services, both for end users and other players in the ecosystem.”
Juan José González Menaya, Head of IoT Connectivity at Telefónica Tech, states: “Thanks to our IoT connectivity, Fermax video door entry systems become connected devices that offer a much more convenient and secure experience for the user, allowing them to interact with their home or building from anywhere, for example, by opening the door remotely from their mobile phone. At the same time, our Kite platform allows Fermax to centrally manage and monitor all connected installations, ensuring optimal operation and anticipating potential incidents before they impact the service.”
Fermax has set itself the goal of exceeding 100,000 connected video door entry systems by 2030, with a growth rate of between 15,000 and 20,000 installations per year from 2026 onwards.
Video door entry systems connected with IoT technology ensure more efficient, convenient and secure access management for individuals, businesses and neighbourhood communities. Telefónica Tech’s technology allows Fermax and its network of installers to remotely monitor, manage and maintain all these connected devices in real time with the aim of optimising the service provided, detecting and resolving incidents more quickly (often without the need for technical visits) and improving communications protection.
For their part, users who have a Fermax connected video door entry system in their building will only need to download the DuoxMe app to see who is calling their intercom, interact with the person who wants to access the building and open the door from anywhere via their mobile phone, with encrypted communications and controlled access that guarantees the privacy of interactions and prevents unauthorised access. This system promotes security and intrusion prevention. Thanks to IoT connectivity, users will receive a notification when someone calls their home and will be able to visually identify and speak to the person without opening the door, with high-quality audio and video, simulating that someone is always at home.
