Food Logistics Names AutoStore CPO as Recipient of the 2026 Rock Stars of the Supply Chain Award
AutoStore, the global leader in intelligent order fulfillment solutions, announced today that its Chief Product Officer, Parth Joshi, has been selected as one of Food Logistics 2026 Rock Stars of the Supply Chain, in the Top Warehousing Leader Category, for his role in driving company-wide innovation. The award recognizes influential industry leaders whose achievements, hard work, and vision continue to shape the global cold food supply chain.
Over the past year, AutoStore has delivered numerous breakthrough innovations addressing the logistics industry’s toughest challenges: rising costs, strict freshness windows, labor strain in frozen zones, slow case handling during peak periods, and increasing demands for higher storage density without expanding warehouse space.
Advancing Case Handling, Buffering, and Consolidation at Scale
One key area within AutoStore’s recent batch of innovations has been improving high-volume case handling, buffering, and consolidation. These are critical capabilities for food and grocery operations managing peak demand and complex fulfillment flows.
Through the introduction of AutoStore AutoCase™, FlexBins™, and CarouselAI™, AutoStore has significantly expanded how its systems handle cases alongside each-item picking, enabling faster throughput, smarter buffering, and more efficient consolidation across inbound and outbound workflows.
Together, these capabilities allow customers to manage mixed cases and each-item operations within a single automated environment, improving predictability, throughput, and space efficiency during the most demanding periods.
AutoStore developed the first automated storage and retrieval system capable of operating at sub-zero temperatures. The Multi-Temperature Solution™ accommodates various temperature requirements from chilled to frozen within a single grid, delivering up to 4X more inventory capacity while improving worker safety by minimizing exposure to harsh, cold environments. The systems have already been installed by AutoStore partners Swisslog and StrongPoint in multiple global locations.
Extending Automation into Food Production
This year, in partnership with vertical farming tech startup OnePointOne, AutoStore developed Opollo Farm, the world’s first vertical farm operated entirely by robots. The system produces harvest-ready crops in just 15 days, cuts water usage by 95%, and reduces contamination risk, moving food from growth to shelf in half the time of traditional farming. Opollo Farm now supplies Whole Foods stores in Phoenix, providing a scalable model for producing food closer to demand while maintaining full automation.
“The future of food logistics isn’t just about moving products faster. It’s about building adaptable infrastructure that can support better decisions across the entire supply chain, from production to delivery,” said Joshi. “Whether we’re helping grocery operators handle peak demand in frozen zones or helping vertical farms grow fresh produce inside warehouses, our mission is to store and move things for everyone, everywhere. All of this is due to the incredible work of our teams in solving real-world challenges that impact how food reaches consumers.”
With more than 1,750 AutoStore systems deployed across 60+ countries and 80,000 robots moving 2.5 billion products annually, AutoStore’s work continues to shape how warehouses operate across the global cold food supply chain.
