Tennis Star and Author Tumeka Harris Empowering Children With Essential Life Lessons In New Children’s Series “The BigHeds’ Adventures”

Canton, Ohio- May 1- After her own life lessons that ‘it’s not fun being teased as a child’, Tumeka Harris has authored a series of children’s books, “The BigHeds’ Adventures”, aimed at instilling the tools children need to express love, respect for others, and to build confidence through the adventures of the “BigHeds” characters.

“When I was a kid, others teased me because of my big forehead. I had to learn to step away from their teasing and have the confidence to know that I was a beautiful and good person regardless of my flaws or head size,” says Harris. "Throughout my tennis career, I was continuously drawn to helping children in the community events sponsored by the tournament organizers. I found that children face so many challenges in this world. They need to be encouraged and they want to know that they are loved. These experiences inspired me to write this series of books that help kids understand that name-calling, being mean, and a lack of self-control, causes stress and unhappiness for everyone.”

“The BigHeds’ Adventures” is aimed at inspiring children to develop essential life lessons, “The BigHeds’ Adventures”, chronicles the journey of unique cosmic creatures, “The BigHeds” from the coolest planet in outer space, to a deserted island here on earth, then back again to their home planet. The characters featured throughout the series are humorous and relatable; and are supplemented with compelling illustrations by Linzi Miller that helps define the stories. The series is written for children 4 to 8 years of age, and contains an entertaining plot full of suspense, drama, and humor. To complement “The BigHeds’ Adventures”, additional books featuring “The BigHeds” and a full line of “BigHeds” merchandise are currently in development.
