Sky confirms major investment to transform Livingston campus, supporting thousands of local jobs
Sky today confirms plans for a major investment in an expanded, state-of-the-art Scottish office in Livingston, with a full planning application having been submitted.
The development underscores Sky’s long-term commitment to West Lothian and will support thousands of jobs and drive regional economic growth.
The proposals will extend the site by an additional 15 acres, taking it to over 21,000m2 in size, and be home to around 3,000 staff. The campus will be designed with sustainability in mind, featuring an ultra-low-energy, three-storey building, powered by renewable energy including onsite solar panels. The project will replace four existing buildings at Kirkton Campus and leased space on the Alba Campus, creating a modern, flexible environment for Sky colleagues.
Amenities will include modern event spaces, a meeting centre, café, restaurant, and activity-based workspaces. Existing facilities such as the gym will also be upgraded with state-of-the-art features, alongside extensive new landscaping.
Dana Strong, Sky Group CEO, said: “Livingston has been home to Sky’s leading customer service operation for more than three decades, and this investment demonstrates our long-term commitment to the region and confidence in Scotland’s pivotal role in the UK economy. The campus development will support thousands of jobs and create opportunities for local businesses. Designed with sustainability in mind, it will set a benchmark for innovation and regional growth.”
The project will deliver significant benefits to the local community, including landscaped green spaces and active travel links. Sky is committed to using local supply chains wherever possible, creating opportunities for SMEs and local businesses to contribute to the project’s delivery and ongoing operation.
This significant investment in Scotland is part of Sky’s wider commitment to investing across the UK and comes only four months after Sky was granted planning approval for the expansion of Sky Studios Elstree, Sky’s state-of-the-art film and TV studio. This expansion will enable a further 10 stages to the complex in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, unlocking development that is expected to create over 2,000 jobs and attract £2bn of production investment to the UK within the first five years of operation.
