Bunge Completes Divestiture Commitment in Western Canada
Effective today, Bunge successfully divested its grain elevator at Valparaiso, SK, to Cargill. This transaction is part of the divestiture commitment Bunge made to the Government of Canada, to receive regulatory approval for the company’s merger with Viterra. It is the sixth and final facility to be divested under this commitment, after approval was received from the Minister of Transport. The company announced the divestment of the other five facilities on Nov. 7, 2025.
As part of Bunge’s agreement with the Government of Canada, the Valparaiso facility was held separate from the rest of Bunge’s business and run by an independent Hold Separate Manager since July 2. Additional details on the Valparaiso transaction are not being disclosed. The hold separate and sales process for all six facilities was monitored by a government-approved third party.
