A Medieval Adventure Told in Verse: “Mary and Sir Edward” Arrives
Stewart Monti’s narrative-poem-turned-book earns business investment endorsement for film adaptation consideration.
Open the gate, step into “olde times,” and prepare to be swept away.
From acclaimed poet and former U.S. Air Force Major Stewart Monti comes “Mary and Sir Edward” (published 2023), a bold, narrative-driven work that blends poetry and story into an immersive medieval journey where invaders loom, destinies collide, and courage becomes the only currency that matters.
As Monti invites readers:
“Get ready dear reader you’re going to go Where Mary awaits you years so long ago It’s the twelfth century and invaders abound In such situations adventure is found…”
In “Mary and Sir Edward,” Monti’s verse doesn’t just describe a world, it builds one. The result is a vivid, cinematic reading experience designed for anyone who loves historical adventure, romantic tension, and sweeping “ride-or-die” stakes. It’s the kind of story that begs to be seen as much as it’s read which is why “Mary and Sir Edward” is being endorsed for business investment consideration for film adaptation, opening the door for the story to expand from page to screen.
A Poet’s Voice With a Pilot’s Precision
Born in 1951 in the Appalachian mountains of Bland, Virginia, Stewart Monti built a life shaped by movement, discipline, and wide horizons. A military brat and graduate of both military high school and the United States Air Force Academy, Monti flew C-130E aircraft for 2,000 hours around the world, later retiring from the Air Force as a Major. He earned two master’s degrees, supported his Air Force career, and went on to teach as an adjunct instructor for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
But long before publication, Monti’s poems were shared in booklets among social clubs, performed in readings across local organizations, and displayed in everyday spaces where stories live best: a church thrift shop, a friend’s hair salon, churches, kitchens, a railway museum, and private homes across the Greater Sanford, North Carolina area where he now lives with his wife and son.
His first collection, “135 Poems for Today” (2017), introduced readers to his accessible, human voice. “Mary and Sir Edward” took that voice into narrative form evolving from a single narrative poem into a complete published work.
Why Readers and Producers Are Taking Notice
-
A fresh format: narrative poetry that reads like a story and moves like a film
-
A high-stakes era: Our publications refer to both the 11th and 12th centuries, Viking invasions, and historic kings desperately maintaining their kingdoms.
-
A memorable hook: a heroine waiting across centuries and a knight stepping into legend
-
Screen potential: built-in cinematic momentum, set pieces, and emotional arcs
