Asymmetric Security, the first full stack AI incident response services company, today announced a $4.2 million oversubscribed pre‑seed round led by Susa Ventures, along with Halcyon Ventures, Overlook Ventures, and leading angels that include Meta’s Charlie Songhurstand Entrepreneur First’s Matt Clifford, and Geoff Ralston, the former president of Y Combinator. The company’s platform leverages the latest frontier AI models paired with top cybersecurity experts to shrink the time and cost of investigations from days to hours. Asymmetric plans to use the funding to hire across its engineering and incident response teams.

Corporate America’s Problem: Increasingly Complex Cyberattacks Driven by AI

Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks remain one of the nation’s most financially destructive forms of cybercrime. The FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center reports that 73 percent of all reported cyber incidents were BEC-related, with cumulative losses exceeding $55 billion over the past decade. As AI systems get more sophisticated at mimicking humans at scale, this problem is set to grow exponentially, as highlighted by Anthropic’s recent documentation of the first large-scale AI cyberattackexecuted without substantial human intervention.

“The average BEC investigation takes 40+ hours of manually reading through thousands of emails and logs, a painstaking process prone to human errors,” said Zainab Ali Majid, co-founder of Asymmetric. “Asymmetric leverages the latest AI models to shrink these processes from days to hours while still maintaining the gold standard of accuracy.”

Asymmetric Security’s Solution: 10x Faster AI-Native Cyber Forensics & Response

Asymmetric Security solves this by leveraging the latest frontier AI models with cybersecurity experts to automate the forensic investigations. The platform has already accelerated responses for hundreds of attacks, improving speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency. The company plans to expand its services in the coming year to include insider threat investigations, ransomwares, and nation-state attacks.

Key features include:

  • Rapid log pulls: Autonomously collect evidence across email, identity, and cloud apps.

  • AI-powered investigation: Analyze millions of data points in minutes to understand the timeline and scope of attack.
  • Human-in-the-loop validation: Expert responders review findings and make defensible judgment calls on edge cases and risk.

  • Defensive Recommendations: Provide detailed and actionable steps to prevent future attacks

Asymmetric’s mission is to accelerate AI’s defensive cybersecurity capabilities, which they believe will be critical to defend against AI-related cybersecurity threats. Drawing on the real-world attacks they investigate, Asymmetric builds realistic evaluations and benchmarks to advance their own AI cyberdefense capabilities and those of frontier AI labs. To accomplish this mission, Asymmetric has built a team of leading cybersecurity and AI experts from Crowdstrike, Palo Alto Networks, RAND, Stroz Friedberg, Stanford University, Oxford University, and Cambridge University.

“As AI progress accelerates toward AGI, the security stakes rise,” said Alexis Carlier, co-founder of Asymmetric Security. “Autonomous AI attacks are no longer hypothetical, and AI model weight theft is now one of the most consequential security risks facing the West. We exist to accelerate AI cyberdefense and make AI an overwhelming advantage for defenders.”

“We believe in the full-stack AI services thesis,” said Chad Byers, co-founder and general partner at Susa Ventures. “Asymmetric is the best company in the cyber incident response market, with a rare combination of incident response and AI expertise. Their cybersecurity services business is compelling on its own, but it also gives them a powerful distribution channel into the enterprise security market.”
