IHG Hotels & Resorts Highlights Hotel Openings in the First Half of 2026 in Greater China
As travel and hospitality demand in Greater China continues to diversify, guest expectations are becoming increasingly specific and multi-layered. From city centers to natural destinations, and from short stays to more immersive travel experiences, the way people travel — and stay — is evolving.
Building on its long-standing presence and deep understanding of the market, IHG Hotels & Resorts will further strengthen its footprint in Greater China in 2026. Through a series of high-quality hotel openings, IHG is steadily expanding a network that spans different city tiers and travel occasions, closely aligned with the evolving needs of guests.
Daniel Aylmer CEO, IHG Greater China, said: “Greater China remains one of IHG’s most important and dynamic markets globally. We are seeing new ways of travelling emerge, longer and more varied stay patterns take shape, and guest expectations continue to evolve. In response, we will continue to advance our growth with a diverse brand portfolio and strong local operating expertise, delivering high-quality hotels that meet the needs of different locations, occasions, and guest segments. These measured and sustained investments reflect our long-term focus on quality growth and enduring value. Building on five decades in the market, we are entering the next chapter together with our hotel owners.”
Currently, IHG has introduced 13 brands in Greater China, with more than 1,400 open and pipeline hotels across over 200 cities. In the first half of 2026, IHG’s new hotel openings will showcase a diverse mix of locations, occasions, and local character across Greater China. Together, these projects reflect a more structured and clearly defined expansion of IHG’s footprint across the region.
Locations: From established centers to emerging destinations
As non-tier-one cities continue to grow in importance within the travel and hospitality landscape, IHG’s new hotel openings in 2026 will further extend into new tier-one and tier-two cities across Greater China. Supported by a diverse brand portfolio, IHG is able to deliver offerings that are well-matched to the characteristics and demand of each local market.
In the first half of 2026, TFT Chongqing Vignette Collection will open in the city’s core urban area, strengthening IHG’s presence in Southwest China’s luxury segment. Meanwhile, InterContinental Huzhou South Taihu, Atwell Hefei Downtown, Holiday Inn Resort Ningbo Ninghai, Holiday Inn Jinan Daming Lake and Holiday Inn Express Nanjing Confucius Temple will also open, enriching the accommodation choices across these regions.
Occasions: From travel motivation to length of stay
As travel motivations and stay patterns become increasingly varied, IHG’s upcoming hotels in Greater China are designed to serve a wide range of occasions — from short city breaks and leisure trips to longer urban stays and frequent city-based travel.
Anchored in specific travel occasions such as entertainment, theme parks, urban leisure and city travel, IHG continues to deploy its diverse brand portfolio to deliver targeted accommodation solutions. InterContinental Taipei and Holiday Inn Shanghai Tourism Zone are both scheduled to open in the first half of 2026, located near Taipei Dome and Shanghai Disney Resort respectively, catering to short-stay and family travel driven by leisure and entertainment experiences.
At the same time, THE ONE Shanghai Downtown Vignette Collection is situated adjacent to the city’s core commercial and lifestyle districts, serving as an important urban node that connects culture and city life, and offering guests a refined and relaxed urban experience. Kimpton Shanghai 9 Tree Art Center, set within a suburban short gateway destination, provides a more comfortable stay option for guests drawn to nature, arts, and culture.
Local Character: From cultural inspiration to spatial expression
Beyond standardized accommodation, today’s guests increasingly seek a deeper emotional connection with their destinations. Across its portfolio, IHG continues to integrate local culture into hotel design and guest experiences — not as decorative elements, but through thoughtful spatial storytelling that brings a sense of place to life.
Palm Springs Hotel Chengdu Vignette Collection draws inspiration from traditional Sichuan craftsmanship to reflect the region’s landscape and cultural heritage through its interior design. Hotel Indigo Chongqing Chaotianmen incorporates the city’s distinctive topography into its overall design, extending local influences across dining, fitness, and public spaces; voco Beijing Temple of Heaven takes inspiration from Beijing’s historical and cultural context, weaving local philosophy and heritage into the guestroom experience to offer a sense of place through everyday living.
