Out now! Welcome back to the island with updates for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
It’s time to head back to the island! The Animal Crossing™: New Horizons game just received a big new update, including new items, activities, and conveniences. Since there’s a lot to cover, we’re gonna split this article into two sections: 1) the free update for everyone who has the game and 2) the paid upgrade for players who have a Nintendo Switch™ 2system.
Let’s start with the free stuff!
There’s a new hotel on the dock, er block. If you’re looking to help out Kapp’n and his crew, they’ll let you design themed rooms for the guests. Decorating a hotel room (or helping Tom Nook out with certain DIY requests) will also give you hotel tickets that can then be used in the souvenir shop. Who knows what new stuff you’ll find there?
Making life more convenientRunning low on home storage? You’re now able to upgrade your storage two more times—for a max of 9000! You can even store trees, shrubs, and flowers if a bit of gardening is in your future.
Oh, and no problem if it’s been a while and your island feels a bit messy. Talk to Resetti to learn about his new cleanup service—he can tidy up certain areas of your island or even the entire thing. If you want, he can also clean up flowers or custom designs and send ‘em straight to your storage.
(Although, the writer of this article personally supports leaving up Halloween decorations all year long. In both the game and in real life!)
There are other little enhancements, so we hope you enjoy!
Ever wanted to experiment with wild island ideas without changing your main island? Players with a Nintendo Switch Online membership* can now create up to three Slumber Islands separate from their main island. On these dreamy islands, you can let your imagination run free—terraform, build, and decorate with items you’ve previously obtained. You can also connect with your friends online—either host your friends on your Slumber Island or meet up on theirs to work on the island…together! Sharing the dream, indeed.
New collaborationsFinally, you’ll be able to find new collaborations such as LEGO® items, retro Nintendo knickknacks, and stuff that’s obtained by scanning select amiibo™accessories** (sold separately). Try tapping compatible amiibo accessories from the Splatoon™ series and the Legend of Zelda™ series to see what happens.
How to updateYour game may have updated already, but you can also check by highlighting the game icon from the HOME Menu, pressing the + Button, and then selecting Software Update (internet connection required).
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 EditionPhew, OK that was a lot. How are you doing? Need a break from reading? If you need a snack, we’ll wait right here.
…
Alrighty! Let’s talk about Nintendo Switch 2 Edition now. The Animal Crossing™: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch™ 2 Editiongame has a number of exclusive enhancements. Players will be able to enjoy enhanced resolution, mouse control support for faster and easier decorating, a megaphone for calling your animal residents (that uses the built-in system microphone), and more.
Also, if you and your friends all have the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, you can share your island in 12-player sessions online. Then, with CameraPlay and GameChat*** support, you can see and hear their reactions in real time.
If you already have the original version of the game, just purchase the upgrade pack**** to get all the new enhancements. You’ll find the different options at the link below.
Once again, we’d like to thank all the fans for continuing to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons. We hope you enjoy the new update.
