AirBorneo chooses Sabre to build strong technology foundations as it takes to the skies in 2026
New state-owned carrier selects Sabre’s network planning, revenue optimization, and data solutions to drive smarter decisions and a stronger passenger experience from the outset
Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ: SABR), a leading global travel technology company, today announced a new long-term agreement with AirBorneo. The newly established airline began operations in early January 2026 and has chosen Sabre to underpin its planning and pricing strategy from day one.
By adopting Sabre’s advanced technology even before it took to the skies, AirBorneo – which is owned by the government of the Malaysian state of Sarawak – aims to establish strong foundations to support both regional connectivity and long-term growth, while ensuring it can adapt quickly to market changes and deliver a seamless passenger experience.
Through the multi-year deal, AirBorneo will deploy:
- Sabre’s Network Planning & Optimization (NPO) suite to automate and efficiently manage flight schedules, codeshare agreements, and route profitability.
- Sabre Mosaic Revenue Optimizer to support pricing strategies by dynamically adjusting seat availability and fare conditions in response to market demand and business objectives.
- Sabre Market Intelligence & Global Demand Data to gain critical insights and competitive benchmarks to fuel network and revenue growth.
“AirBorneo is committed to building a modern, competitive airline that enhances connectivity in Sarawak and the wider region,” said Megat Ardian Wira Mohd Aminuddin, CEO, AirBorneo Holdings. “By partnering with Sabre even before our first flight took off, we are ensuring that our pricing, planning, and revenue management capabilities are built on a robust, data-driven foundation. This will enable us to serve our first – and future – passengers effectively, make smarter business decisions, and set the stage for sustainable growth.”
“Innovation and strategic planning are at the heart of building successful airlines,” said Maneesh Jaikrishna, Vice President and General Manager, Airline IT Solutions, Asia Pacific. “That means making smart, data-driven decisions about when and where to fly, with the right aircraft on the right routes, to ensure profitability and long-term growth. By selecting Sabre’s technology ahead of launch, AirBorneo is putting the right framework in place to compete effectively and deliver the connectivity and service travelers need, want, and expect. Their forward-thinking approach exemplifies how technology can accelerate growth and enhance connectivity in the region.”
Created through the acquisition and rebranding of MASwings, AirBorneo will serve a dual role: maintaining vital air services across Sarawak and Sabah while expanding connectivity beyond. With initial plans to operate within a four-to-five hour flight radius, AirBorneo is targeting regional hubs such as Singapore, Indonesia and South Korea, alongside longer-term ambitions to connect to longer haul destinations. Supported by Sabre technology, the airline is positioned to boost Sarawak’s role as an aviation and tourism hub, enhancing options for local communities and international visitors alike.
