The Board of Telenor ASA approves Opplysningen’s acquisition of Carrot Communications

Fornebu,Opplysningen’s acquisition of Carrot Communications ASA was today approved by the Board of Telenor ASA.

The competition in the Norwegian market for directory services is getting fierce, and the management of Opplysningen 1881 has been searching for ways to strengthen its operation and secure jobs in the regions where it has its branch offices. The acquisition of Carrot Communications will contribute to strengthen Opplysningen’s competence and position in the business market. The acquisition has been subject to discussions with the relevant employee representatives, in line with existing agreements, and has also been considered by the Board of Opplysningen.

The economic value of Telenor’s stake in Opplysningen 1881 will be unchanged, and Telenor will not receive any form of cash settlement in connection with this transaction. The ownership percentage will however be reduced, as the new owners will receive their payment for the sale of Carrot in the form of shares in Opplysningen.

After the acquisition, Telenor will hold a 27 per cent share in Opplysningen, current owner A. Wilhelmsen Capital will hold 33.2 per cent and new owner Kistefos will hold 29.4 per cent. Opplysningen AS will no longer be a part of Telenor Venture’s portfolio.
