Nikon Corporation (Nikon) is pleased to announce that construction of new buildings has commenced at its subsidiary, Tochigi Nikon Corporation. Following the commencement of construction, a ground-breaking ceremony was held on January 7, 2026.
Tochigi Nikon is a core production base for high-precision optical components and modules used in Nikon Group, as well as a center for production technology development. The construction of the new buildings is aimed at reinforcing the manufacturing system of such as interchangeable lenses for digital cameras, high-performance objective lenses for microscopes, projection lenses for semiconductor lithography systems, and industrial lenses. The new buildings will feature a renewed production line, the introduction of a mixed-flow production system, and automated internal logistics. These advancements will create a flexible and efficient production system that can quickly respond to diverse business changes.
The area connecting the two buildings is designed to encourage interaction among employees, thereby enhancing their engagement. The open space incorporates natural light and includes areas for meetings and relaxation, promoting communication across departments and job functions. Furthermore, with a focus on connections with the local community and students, there are plans to establish an exhibition area for factory tours and a corner where visitors can experience the appeal of manufacturing.
