Amadeus and ICAO strengthen collaboration to advance air transport’s digital transformation
New partnership supports ICAO’s "No Country Left Behind" strategic goal, fostering knowledge-sharing and digital innovation
Amadeus and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in support of ICAO’s No Country Left Behind goal (NCLB).
The partnership seeks to enhance the capacity of States to adopt advanced digital technologies that improve the efficiency, safety and sustainability of international air transport systems.
The collaboration will help ICAO Member States advance in their digital transformation journeys and more rapidly realize the social and economic benefits that air travel brings. Under the terms of the agreement, Amadeus will contribute its technical expertise, share knowledge, and support initiatives to foster innovation in aviation and travel, in alignment with ICAO strategies, including the TRIP framework and Doc 9303 specifications.
Amadeus will support this effort by leveraging its experience in travel technology, digital identity, biometrics, and data management - areas that are increasingly vital to the modernization of air transport systems.
This collaboration focusses on:
- Capacity-building and technical assistance to states to enhance their implementation of ICAO standards and specifications.
- Promoting the interoperability of biometrics between countries, consistent with ICAO Doc 9303 and TRIP Roadmap
- Training programs focused on the technical and regulatory aspects of digital identity and biometrics in travel, incorporating best practice and leading examples of tech-enabled aviation and border control processes to accelerate the work of ICAO members.
“The digitalization of identity documentation and management is essential to the sustainability of air transport’s expansion and transformation. ICAO’s collaboration with Amadeus will help enable our member states’ effective adoption of these new technologies, in line with our leadership towards our vision of safe and sustainable air transport for all by 2050.” Juan Carlos Salazar Secretary General, International Civil Aviation Organization
“As the industry applies powerful technologies that improve the experience of travel, we need global co‑ordination and collaboration more than ever before. ICAO’s work to set standards, and to ensure every country has the knowledge and capabilities to effectively apply those standards, is fundamental to making travel better for everyone, everywhere. We at Amadeus are very proud to support ICAO’s mission.” Rudy Daniello Executive Vice President, AirOps, Amadeus
The two organizations are currently defining a timeline and roadmap that will guide the collaboration with initial NCLB deliverables expected in the first half of 2026.
