TCM Celebrates the Life and Legacy of Filmmaker Rob Reiner

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will honor the life and career of filmmaker Rob Reiner with a programming tribute headlined by a special premiere presentation of The Princess Bride (1987) on January 28, 2026. The Princess Bride endures as one of Reiner’s most beloved achievements—celebrated for its wit, emotional sincerity, and timeless storytelling that continues to resonate with audiences across generations. A longtime friend of TCM and a passionate advocate of film preservation, Reiner was one of the most accomplished and versatile filmmakers of his generation.

Reiner began his career as an actor and became a cultural touchstone with his Emmy Award–winning portrayal of Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the groundbreaking television series All in the Family.

He went on to direct an extraordinary body of work that ranged across comedy, romance, drama, and social commentary. His films include This Is Spinal Tap (1984), Stand by Me (1986), When Harry Met Sally… (1989), Misery (1990), A Few Good Men (1992), and most recently Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, each leaving an indelible mark on American cinema.
