Spatial Ops by Resolution Games Gets ‘Blueprint Combat Update’ for Meta Quest
A Massive Arena Expansion with Map Editing and Online Map Library; Custom Rulesets; and New Co-op Survival Game Mode
“The Blueprint Combat Update is about giving players more control over how they play and creators more freedom in what they build,” said Mathieu Castelli, Chief Creative Officer at Resolution Games. “The Arena is now a living workshop: you can iterate with friends in the lobby, shape the rules around your favorite playstyle, and jump into new kinds of matches that feel smoother, smarter, and more dynamic than ever.”
Resolution Games today released the ‘Blueprint Combat Update,’ a major new free update for mixed reality FPS game, Spatial Ops, that significantly expands Arena Mode for both players and creators. The update, now available for the Meta Quest line of devices in the Meta Horizon Store, delivers new ways to play, build, and customize matches, blending deeper creative tools with fresh combat content and quality-of-life improvements for smoother, more dynamic firefights.
Map Creation/Editing & Accessibility/Variety
At the heart of the update is a big leap forward for map creation. Arena hosts can now edit maps in real time before a multiplayer match begins, with everyone in the lobby seeing changes instantly—making quick iteration and collaborative tuning part of the pre-game flow. Creators also gain essential quality tools like Undo and Redo, plus a wider sandbox of objects and interactions to shape how matches unfold.
Blueprint Combat also introduces new building elements that make arenas more expressive and tactical. Map makers can place text directly into levels to guide players, design hazardous damage zones that drain health over time, and build floating barriers that no longer need ground support. Also available today as a paid DLC ($2.99 USD), players can purchase the “Corrupted Technology Theme” to add a full set of unique, high-tech props to make their creative toolkits more powerful than ever.
To take maps even further in Spatial Ops, today’s update also adds an online map library, ability to save the host map, quickplay improvements and new map templates.
Custom Rulesets
Players and hosts now get significantly more control over how each Arena match plays. Custom rulesets are saved per map, letting creators define unique mode styles that persist when shared. New options include the addition of the holster system to arena mode, adjustable bot difficulty, one-weapon-per-spawner behavior, friendly fire toggles, weapon lifetime tuning, and visibility settings for armor—making it easier than ever to craft competitive, casual, or experimental variants.
New Game Mode
On the gameplay side, the update adds Co-Op Survival Mode, a streamlined cooperative experience for squads who want to take on challenges together. Creators can support this with a new Enemy Spawner object, allowing them to define where foes appear for custom encounters. Combat variety grows further with the arrival of a tactical Flashbang weapon alongside a broad sweep of visual upgrades and polish that keeps matches fast, clear, and satisfying.
The Blueprint Combat Update is available now for Spatial Ops as a free update across supported platforms in the Meta Horizon Store, and the full game is currently on sale for 40% off through the end of the year. Players can jump into the enhanced Arena today, while creators can start building and sharing new Blueprint-powered maps immediately.
