New Balance Releases Inaugural Made in USA Economic and Social Footprint Report

Boston, MA – WEBWIRE

New Balance today released its first MADE in USA Economic and Social Footprint report that examines the impact of its decades-long commitment to American manufacturing, which it calls MADE, on U.S. jobs, GDP, and its local New England communities. The report focuses on the company’s 2023 and 2024 activities.

As the only major athletic footwear manufacturer to maintain U.S. production, the company has invested $155 million in expanding its U.S. factory presence since 2021, integrating advanced technologies while preserving the skilled craftsmanship that has defined its shoe-making heritage since 1938.

Today, New Balance has five factories in New England including: Central Maine (Skowhegan); Norway, ME; Lawrence, MA; Methuen MA and Londonderry, NH (opening in early 2026). New Balance MADE U.S. footwear contains a domestic value of 70% or more and makes up a limited portion of New Balance’s U.S. sales

“Our commitment to American manufacturing, which we call MADE, has always been an integral part of our company heritage and culture,” said Joe Preston, President & CEO of New Balance. “With this report, I’m proud to share that our ongoing MADE investments are a key piece of our business success that has driven significant contributions to the U.S. economy and our New England communities.”

The report highlights several of the company’s regional economic impact points, including:

GDP: In 2024, New Balance contributed $3.1B to the U.S. economy, +23% over 2023 ($2.5B). $479M of that impact came from its U.S. MADE operations, underscoring the vital role domestic manufacturing plays in its U.S. economic footprint.

Employment: New Balance employs more than 5,000 Associates across the U.S., 1,200 of which are MADE associates. In 2024, each U.S. MADE Associate supported 2.5x additional U.S. jobs
