LEGO® Racing: Inspiring young fans, especially girls, to see themselves in every aspect of motorsport

WEBWIRE

Last week in Las Vegas, we revealed something we think is truly incredible – our new partnership with F1 ACADEMY™ and the launch of LEGO® Racing, our first ever motor racing team.

I’m really excited about this new venture.

Our partnership with Formula One through 2025 has been a thrill. Together, we’ve connected with fans across generations, captivated them with playful events like the Miami Grand Prix Drivers’ Parade, brick-built trophies on the podium at Silverstone, and put their passion for Formula 1 into their hands like never before.

Now, we are extending that partnership to continue building the passion for motorsport through LEGO Play, and inspiring the builders of tomorrow- and what better partner to do that with?

F1 ACADEMY – the ideal partner

F1 ACADEMY is levelling the playing field in motorsport, giving young female athletes a clear pathway to achieve their dreams in the top tiers of the sport.

Together, we want to encourage young fans, especially girls, to explore motorsport both on and off the track, through creative play and representation on the starting grid. This collaboration represents so much more than a team or a car. It’s about inspiring more girls to build, to dream and to take the driver’s seat – in racing, in creativity and in life.

Esmee Kosterman – Driver and LEGO Ambassador

No one embodies that sentiment more than the person we have picked to get in the driver’s seat - Dutch talent Esmee Kosterman. Esmee is an inspiring role model and someone whom girls around the world can look up to and realize what’s possible when you follow your dreams. She will be a magnificent ambassador for the LEGO brand.

Product and race car livery

We knew from the start that the LEGO Racing livery needed to look just as good on the track on race day, as it does in LEGO brick form, as the LEGO Speed Champions F1 ACADEMY set.

I think our team of LEGO designers have done just that and delivered a stunning livery that combines the playfulness of our brand with the speed and inspiring swagger of F1 ACADEMY. I can’t wait to see it out there on the starting grid when the season gets up and running in 2026.

The LEGO Group & F1 ACADEMY - Championing girls and women, together

Our launch event in Las Vegas was an extraordinary moment for me, joined by Susie Wolff, Managing Director of F1 ACADEMY, to unveil our new car, driver and LEGO Speed Champions set. More than anyone else, Susie has made the case for giving young women a platform on which to demonstrate and develop their talent as racing drivers. Susie described the announcement as a “real pinch me moment,” and it is for us at the LEGO Group too.

Susie and I discussed our shared belief that access and representation matter. Whether it’s LEGO building or motor racing, we’re passionate about breaking down barriers to inclusivity for girls especially.

Our goal is simple: to make F1 ACADEMY an unmissable part of race weekends around the world and to show that when young people are given the opportunity to unlock their courage and creativity, anything is possible.
