Turin celebrates arrival of Fiat 500 Hybrid at Mirafiori and start of work on Office Building

Turin – WEBWIRE
  • Production of the new FIAT 500 Hybrid began in Turin in mid-November, with the aim of reaching over 6,000 units by the end of 2025 and ensuring the first deliveries can take place in January 2026. Orders opened November 21 and next weekend the car will be on show at all Italian dealerships in the first "Open Days"
  • The redevelopment of the new Office Building officially began today; 86 years after it opened, it is being revamped bearing in mind its unique history but, above all, is looking to the future: by 2027 it will host thousands of people to reaffirm once again the central role that Turin plays for Stellantis and for the automotive world in general.
  • The arrival of the new FIAT 500 Hybrid and the start of work on the new Office Building were celebrated in a double event attended by the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, among other major national and local institutions.

Today, Turin celebrated a new chapter in its automotive history: the Fiat 500 Hybrid has arrived in the city and production has already begun at the historic Mirafiori plant. More than 6,000 cars will be produced by the end of the year and, to support production development, a second shift is expected to start in March 2026, accompanied by around 400 new hires. This milestone, with the simultaneous start of the redevelopment of the Office Building of the Mirafiori complex, confirms Turin’s role as the beating heart of the Italian automotive industry and a symbol of innovation and tradition.

The double event had around 200 people in attendance, including journalists, national and local industry representatives, trade union and civil society representatives and Stellantis employees. The institutional figures in attendance included the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, the President of the Region, Alberto Cirio and the Mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo. They were welcomed by Stellantis Chairman John Elkann, CEO Antonio Filosa, Head of European Activities Emanuele Cappellano, Fiat Brand CEO and Stellantis Head of Global Marketing, Olivier François.

The new Fiat 500 Hybrid marks a moment of strong reconnection with the historical roots of Mirafiori and with the city of Turin, where FIAT’s journey began and continues to evolve. The launch of this model, celebrated with a series of dedicated events, represents much more than a simple presentation: it is a tribute to popular Italy and to the creativity, ingenuity and passion that have always characterized the brand. The 500 Hybrid, launched in Turin, embodies the spirit of a city that has managed to blend tradition and innovation, becoming a symbol of accessible mobility for all.

Olivier François, Fiat Brand CEO and Stellantis Head of Global Marketing, noted: “The 500 is much more than a car: it is a symbol of creativity, passion, and the Italian spirit. With the new 500 Hybrid, we want to offer a mobility that combines tradition and future, celebrating popular Italy and the unique bond between FIAT, Turin and Mirafiori. This model represents our vision of a car that is accessible, sustainable and can excite, just like its host city.”

Produced in the historic “Carrozzerie” plant within the Mirafiori complex, the new 500 Hybrid is available in Hatchback, 3+1 and Cabrio versions, with three distinctive trim levels – POP, ICON and LA PRIMA – as well as the special “TORINO” series, an exclusive tribute to the city that has always been FIAT’s home. The 500 Hybrid stands out for its revamped design, improved comfort and smart technologies, confirming its status as a timeless icon and embarking on a new chapter in FIAT’s history, in the name of sustainability and innovation.

The only place the day could begin was the Office Building, the most symbolic location at Mirafiori, an emblem of innovation, work and automotive passion. The renovation of the Mirafiori Building, as part of the European grEEn campus program to transform workplaces by means of innovative, sustainable and collaborative projects, responds to the new needs of a modern automotive industry, without losing the link with its history. Mirafiori is one of the three sites involved in this program; the others are Poissy, France and Rüsselsheim, Germany.

The intervention covers a surface area of 61,000 m2 and is divided into five floors of above-ground offices and two basement levels. Extra attention has been paid to the enhancement of the façade, 200 meters long and covered in Finale stone, and to the installation of 1,670 new windows, to ensure bright and comfortable interiors.

The project aims to create a building with a positive annual energy balance, thanks to the integration of photovoltaic panels and a smart centralized system for energy management. The goal is to achieve the most advanced sustainability and eco-compatibility certifications, with high standards of energy efficiency and a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions. As such, the Mirafiori Office Building is preparing to become a model of responsible innovation, which can preserve its past spirit and simultaneously interpret the challenges of the future.

John Elkann, Stellantis Chairman, stated: “Today represents a new impetus for Turin and Mirafiori, symbolic locations in our history and our future. With the renovation of the Office Building and the launch of the new 500 Hybrid, we celebrate FIAT’s ability to innovate while remaining faithful to its roots, to contribute to the sustainable development and growth of the city that gave rise to the Italian automobile.”

Antonio Filosa, Stellantis CEO, added: “The relaunch of Mirafiori and the production of the 500 Hybrid serve as concrete evidence of Stellantis’ willingness to invest in Italy and its excellence. This project integrates innovation, sustainability and attention to people.”
