Scholastic Titles Featured in New Episodes of Beloved Reading Rainbow® Reboot
Several Scholastic titles have been featured on the YouTube Kids reboot of Reading Rainbow®.
Scholastic author Bellen Woodard joined the program on October 18, with host Mychal the Librarian introducing kids to Bellen’s book More Than Peach, illustrated by Fanny Liem and read aloud by actress Gabrielle Union. Bellen also discussed her newest picture book, Ballet Brown, also illustrated by Liem, and the book’s recent launch event at Ashburn Public Library. Through skin-toned crayons and dancewear that embrace and promote the beauty of all skin tones, both titles address challenging the status quo and broadening the visual language of color.
You Are Enough by Margaret O’Hair, illustrated by Sofia Cardoso and inspired by Sofia Sanchez, is also a featured kid-recommended title in the same episode.
On October 25, actor Adam Devine read aloud Moo Hoo by Audrey Perrott, illustrated by Ross Burach, fitting with the episode’s theme of embracing your feelings and learning how to express them. Later this season, Julia Donaldson’s book Jonty Gentoo: The Adventures of a Penguin will be featured.
Reading Rainbow is making a comeback after nearly 20 years. The Emmy® and Peabody Award-winning show motivates, helps and encourages kids to become avid readers. We’re thrilled to have Scholastic titles be part of this exciting project!
