New Whole Foods Market in Lakewood, Colorado, to Open December 9
Larger relocated store features more than 800 products from 200+ Colorado-based suppliers
Whole Foods Market will open a new 49,500-square-foot store, located at 14225 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood, Co., on December 9, 2025. The store is a relocation of the existing Colfax store (14357 W. Colfax Ave.), which has served the community for more than 27 years. The store will open at 8:00 a.m. on opening day, and regular store hours will be 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. daily.
The store is larger than the nearby previous location, with 26,000 square feet of additional space, easier vehicle access and more dedicated parking. The new location’s product assortment features more than 800 local items from Colorado-based suppliers, sourced with the help of Darcy Landis, Forager for Local & Emerging Brands at Whole Foods Market.
Features of the new Colfax store include:
- An array of certified organic, conventional and Sourced for Good produce in a larger department, plus offerings from eight local farms, including hard squash from Golden West Farms and Ray Domenico Farms, apples from Rogers Mesa Fruit Co. and potatoes from Strohauer Farms.
- Expanded beer and wine department led by a certified Cicerone, featuring a selection of more than 570 wines and 360 beers, including 75 beers from 30 local suppliers. Local highlights include German Pilsner from Prost Brewing Co. and ‘Bout Damn Time IPA from 4 Noses Brewing Company.
- Specialty department with more space dedicated to celebrating cheesemakers and artisan producers. Local items include fresh pasta from Pappardelle’s, assorted crackers from 34 Degrees, jams from Redcamper and chocolate from DAR Chocolate and Lift Chocolate. The cheese counter is overseen by a Certified Cheese Professional and other trained cheese mongers, who can offer recommendations for any occasion and create custom cheese boards.
- Curated grocery department filled with exclusive brand favorites. The department features grind-your-own nut butters, bulk coffees and more than 600 local products, including sparkling spring water from Eldorado Springs, toffee from Enstrom and A2 Milk from Origin.
- Full-service seafood counter featuring a variety of seasonal fresh finfish and shellfish and a broad assortment of ready-to-cook and ready-to-eat items. Local options include cold smoked salmon from Villa Tatra. All offerings are either sustainable wild-caught or Responsibly Farmed.
- Full-service meat counter, with butchers available to cut steaks and poultry to order. Features include high-quality beef, made-in-house sausages and convenient marinated and seasoned options. Local options include bone-in pork chops from Black Diamond Pork, ground bison from Great Range Bison and grass-fed beef Polish sausage from Teton Waters Ranch.
- Prepared Foods department featuring a hot bar, salad bar and hot soup bar, sushi made fresh daily from Kikka and made-in-house no-antibiotics-ever rotisserie chicken, plus made-to-order pizza and sandwich stations. Grab-and-go items include sides, entrees, meals, family packs, holiday appetizers and take-and-bake flatbreads.
- Bakery department offering artisan breads baked fresh daily, seasonal items and everyday favorites, such as Whole Foods Market’s Berry Chantilly Cake, Brown Butter Cookie Caramel Cake and brown butter cookies. The department also carries a wide variety of special diet items from local and national suppliers. Local offerings include Whoopie Pies from Cakeheads, gluten-free cheesecakes from Pie in the Sky and gluten-free cake and peanut butter pie from The Sweet Petite Baking Co.
- Wellness & Beauty department featuring seasonal and holiday gifts, a great selection of home fragrance items and a robust dietary supplement assortment. The department offers 100 local products, including Chaparral & Desert Rose Bar Soap from Spinster Sisters Co., raspberry energy chews from Skratch Labs and Orange Mountain Sport Drink from Acli-mate.

To celebrate the opening, Whole Foods Market will provide a food donation to The Action Center, which makes regular surplus food pickups from local Whole Foods Market stores to help prevent food waste and serve the surrounding community. The donation is part of Whole Foods Market’s Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program, which aims to enhance the ability of local food rescue organizations to transport surplus food to areas facing the greatest need.
Whole Foods Market will also present Denver-based supplier Lentiful with a low-interest loan through the Whole Foods Market Lending Program, to support their national expansion into approximately 390 Whole Foods Market locations. Through the program, Whole Foods Market lends money to small-scale, local or emerging producers to help them grow their businesses. To date, the retailer has provided 430 loans, representing roughly $39 million in capital for recipients.
All food at Whole Foods Market must meet the company’s rigorous Quality Standards, which prohibit hydrogenated fats, high-fructose corn syrup and more than 300 flavors, colors, sweeteners and other ingredients commonly found in food. All beauty and body care products must meet the company’s body care standards, which ban more than 240 commonly used ingredients, including phthalates, parabens and microbeads.
