Maserati Meccanica Lirica, the Voice of the Trident: the GranTurismo and GranCabrio return to Modena

At an exclusive soirée at the Teatro Comunale Modena Pavarotti-Freni, the spectacular Maserati GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica One-Off and GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica One-Off were unveiled, as the historic, recently renovated Viale Ciro Menotti plant now stands ready to host their production. From November 5 to 9, Modena comes alive with a series of events celebrating the Trident.

Modena – WEBWIRE

Today, Maserati opens a new chapter in its century-long story as the production of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio range—in all their versions—returns to the historic Modena plant. The epitome of Italian elegance and style, the two models come home to where previous generations were born, ensuring a seamless continuation of Maserati’s unparalleled industrial expertise and craftsmanship.

With this highly symbolic move, Maserati reaffirms its commitment to Italy’s Motor Valley and to Modena—the brand’s heart and soul since its very beginnings.

To mark this historic moment, the Trident brand has organized a rich calendar of celebratory events— in collaboration with Sonus faber, the world-renowned Italian audio manufacturer, as Main Partnertaking place November 5 to 9. This partnership celebrates a shared dedication to acoustic excellence, where the artistry of sound meets the soul of Maserati. The program brings together employees, customers, institutions, and the entire city, and includes the world premiere of two spectacular One-Off models along with an exclusive Fuoriserie customization pack.

Everything is encapsulated in the concept of Maserati Meccanica Lirica, which celebrates the meeting of two pillars of Modena’s culture: opera and Granturismo engineering, produced in Modena since 1947 with A6 1500. Two worlds united by the same passion and attention to detail give life to a language that transforms mechanical performance into an aesthetic and sensory experience. Moreover, “Maserati Meccanica Lirica” is a creative platform that has brought together all of the company’s divisions, uniting the exclusivity of its products with a cultural and symbolic dimension that links Maserati to Modena through sound—where the voice of the engine becomes music, and the harmony between power and beauty expresses the very soul of the Trident.

In Modena, mechanics has its melody and music its own character.

In Modena, Maserati’s heart beats and the Brand rediscovers its voice.

Jean-Philippe Imparato, Maserati CEO, states: “The homecoming of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio is not only a tribute to our legendary history, but a strategic and identity-driven choice that looks to the future with pride and determination. It reaffirms Modena’s central role for Maserati and the Brand’s commitment to continue investing in Italy, fostering excellence, knowhow, and a vision. Furthermore, it stands as a tangible sign of cohesion and belonging, reaffirming our firmest intention to continue investing in this fantastic Brand.”

Santo Ficili, Maserati COO, remarks: “This land is the heart and soul of our extraordinary Brand—the longest-standing in Italy’s Motor Valley—one that has brought a singular vision of performance and design to the world. Celebrating the bond between Modena and its surroundings through the homecoming of two iconic models not only represents a significant investment for the Brand, but above all for its people, demonstrating Maserati’s commitment to the local community while creating new opportunities for growth.

A homecoming celebration: the Maserati Meccanica Lirica soirée

Maserati celebrates the return of GranTurismo and GranCabrio production to Modena with a series of engaging and symbolic events that, from November 5 to 9, will light up the city’s historic center, the iconic Viale Ciro Menotti plant, and the Teatro Comunale Modena Pavarotti-Freni. The project, entitled “Maserati Meccanica Lirica”, was created to celebrate the common thread that unites mechanical precision with the musicality of sound, blending engineering and art to express beauty and the spirit of Modena.

The Trident Brand took center stage on Wednesday, November 5, as the doors of Modena’s Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni opened to welcome guests into its historic foyer, inviting them to experience a truly one-of-a-kind show.

On the occasion of the exclusive “Maserati Meccanica Lirica” soirée—in collaboration with the Main Partner Sonus faber—the curtain rose on an incredible show that blended art, music, and design.

Hosted by the Brand’s top management, the event welcomed all of its employees, local institutions, as well as representatives from the international media and Maserati’s historic partners.

Guests were immersed in an atmosphere of anticipation and wonder, as every space within the theater became an integral part of the story. The foyer, stalls, and boxes became part of a captivating setting where the story of Turandot intertwined with that of the Trident, while the music guided the audience through sudden apparitions and flashes of light.

The Modena Philharmonic Orchestra, composed of 35 musicians and conducted by maestro Hirofumi Yoshida, performed some of the most famous arias from Puccini’s opera, reaching its climax as Calaf sang the renowned “Nessun dorma”. At the words “Il suo nome è Amore” the Maserati GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica One-Off was unveiled.

The scene shifted once more and the music of Dardust—the world-renowned Italian artist and composer—transformed Italian operatic heritage into a forward-looking soundscape, blending classical influences with electronic vibrations for a contemporary synthesis. To the same notes of “Nessun dorma”, the audience warmly and enthusiastically welcomed the premiere of the new video campaign dedicated to the iconic GranTurismo and GranCabrio—filmed entirely in Modena and its surroundings—a visual story that highlights the deep bond between the city, music, and the unmistakable sound of the Trident’s cars.

In keeping with the tradition of opera premieres, the celebratory evening concluded with an exclusive gala dinner set up in the theater’s foyer. Inspired by art and the local territory, the menu was crafted by the Michelin-starred chef Massimo Bottura, an ambassador of Modenese excellence around the world and a chef who, like Maserati, combines tradition, innovation, and meticulous attention to detail.

Three days of events in the heart of Modena

Following the intense emotions of the Maserati Meccanica Lirica soirée, the spotlight shifted to Maserati’s Modena plant, where the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio assembly line took place, attended by local institutions, top Maserati management, and the international media.

Throughout the day’s program, guests discovered the new features of the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant and enjoyed the unveiling of the Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica One-Off models—presented by the very artisans and engineers who built them in Modena. In the afternoon, guests then visited the new exhibition spaces of the Collezione Maserati Umberto Panini—a must-see destination for fans of the Trident brand, offering a comprehensive and captivating museum experience.

The celebrations continue on Saturday, November 8, and Sunday, November 9, welcoming customers and members of Maserati Club Italia—the stars of the Tridente Experience—for two exclusive days dedicated to the Brand.

Saturday features a captivating car exhibition in Piazza Roma—the heart of the city—and a private visit to the Teatro Comunale during rehearsals by the Orchestra of Modena, followed by a tour of the Maserati plant, where there will be an extraordinary performance by Roberto Bolle—Étoile of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala and new Maserati Brand Ambassador. To conclude the evening, guests will enjoy a gala dinner once again crafted by Massimo Bottura, followed by an immersive sound experience from Dardust.

Lastly, on Sunday, November 9, the city will transform into an open-air museum with a parade of classic and contemporary Maserati models traveling across Modena before reaching the Museo Panini for a private visit. Afterwards, customers will move on to the Modena Autodromo in Marzaglia, where they will experience the thrill of the track with test drives and hot laps aboard the MC20 and GT2 Stradale.

This grand finale crowns an exceptional week in which the city will have embraced its most iconic Brand and celebrated the homecoming of GranTurismo and GranCabrio production to the heart of the Motor Valley.

Modena, Città di Maserati: the Trident invades the city

Modena becomes the stage for a special tribute to Maserati—the Brand that has embodied its spirit, ingenuity, and passion for nearly 90 years. Maserati’s commanding presence throughout the city marks a moment of collective pride, as demonstrated by the new slogan “Modena, Città di Maserati” displayed on billboards at key points and on panels and installations across the city center.

Among the historic locations involved is the Albinelli Market in Piazza XX Settembre, one of the most beloved locales for the Modenese people. Inaugurated in 1931 in Art Deco style, it is the city’s historic covered market, featuring elegant wrought-iron structures, bright windows, and a lively atmosphere that captures the spirit of everyday life in Modena. For the occasion, its arcades and entrances will be adorned in the Trident’s colors, with panels and installations celebrating the deep bond between Maserati and the city.

Not far away, along Via Emilia, the Portico del Collegio—part of the ancient Collegio San Carlo and now home to the Fondazione Collegio San Carlo—will be transformed into an elegant urban gallery. This fascinating space, long devoted to culture and knowledge, will for the first time become a stage set for Maserati.

Lastly, Maserati will mark this celebratory “invasion” with cars featuring commemorative liveries that will drive through the city streets during the days of the event: two Maserati GranTurismo and one Maserati GranCabrio, in yellow and blue—the colors of Modena—with a musical motif along the sides: a staff where the Trident takes the place of the treble clef.

The message is clear: “Maserati Meccanica Lirica” represents the meeting of engineering and art through the Trident, amplified by the acoustic artistry of Sonus faber. It is a celebration that pays tribute to the perfect harmony between technical precision and musical inspiration—a cultural and symbolic dimension, evoked through sound, binding Maserati to its homeland. In Modena, mechanics has its melody and music its own character. In Modena, Maserati’s heart beats and the Brand rediscovers its voice.

2. Maserati GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica One-Off and GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica One-Off

Two special One-Off models

To celebrate the homecoming of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio range, the Italian Motor Valley’s longest-running Brand has created two spectacular One-Off models. Each is inspired by its deep bond with Modena—a special city where music and opera have always seamlessly combined with engineering and mechanical excellence, giving rise to a perfect harmony that embodies the truest spirit of Made-In-Italy manufacturing.

Created in the Maserati Officine Fuoriserie within the historic Viale Ciro Menotti, the new Maserati GranTurismo Meccanica Lirica One-Off and Maserati GranCabrio Meccanica Lirica One-Off cars are the ultimate expression of Italian customization and craftsmanship.

In their 550-hp Trofeo version, the two cars become a score on which to compose new, powerful, and sublime music that tells not only the story of two mechanical gems, but also of one of the city’s most cherished sites: the Teatro Comunale Modena Pavarotti-Freni—a world-famous temple of opera music.

The Maserati Centro Stile drew inspiration from the theater world: each detail becomes a metaphor for a trip into the city’s famed opera house. It’s as if you were attending a premier, seated in the stalls on the iconic red velvet chairs, surrounded by opulent Neoclassical décor and gilded stucco boxes, waiting for the heavy curtain to rise and reveal the two cars.

The magic begins with the all-new exterior colors: Rosso Velluto and Oro Lirico. The former, dedicated to the GranTurismo, is a multilayer shade of spectacular depth inspired by the velvet of the theater’s hall and curtain. Sophisticated, rich, and complex—also in its creation—the color is capable of shifting from deep darkness to vibrant brilliance when struck by light. Meanwhile, Oro Lirico is a champagne hue that reveals a glimmer of red when illuminated—a paint that captures light with warm undertones, dazzles with its iridescent effect, and recalls the evocative, timeless atmosphere of opera tradition. Both colors were created through a complex process of pigment layering.

Each detail on the exterior of the One-Off models has been exclusively reimagined, blending elegance, craftsmanship, and innovation with contrasting accents. The 21-inch black CRIO wheels with diamond-cut detailing in Clearcoat Pale Gold with a matte finish, together with the model and engine scripts and all the badges, receive a White Gold Matte treatment on the GranTurismo dressed in Rosso Velluto, and in a Rosso Velluto Matte treatment on the GranCabrio in Oro Lirico.

The Trident on the grille—an integral part of the radar system for the ADAS—has been redesigned in a gold version, symbolizing opulence and tradition. The same gold finish adorns the Trident on the pillars, completing a cohesive and refined visual whole.

Specifically, the GranTurismo One-Off in Rosso Velluto features White Gold Matte badges and a Trident C-Pillar in the same tone, creating an elegant contrast with the body.

Conversely, the GranCabrio One-Off in Oro Lirico features Rosso Velluto badges that create a warm and radiant chromatic effect. The combination of finishes—Oro Lirico for the body, White Gold Matte for the badges, and Gold Finishing for the wheels and Tridents on the front—creates a unique stylistic language where each element plays off of the others in a harmonious balance of light and material.

Among the most emblematic details is the Maserati Meccanica Lirica exhaust, redesigned by Maserati engineers. A collaboration between Maserati engineers and the Centro Stile, the project aimed to enhance the sound of the two One-Off models, giving them an even more powerful and distinctive timbre in keeping with the Trident’s sporty identity.

What immediately catches the eye are the new exhaust tips—redesigned and enveloped in a deep, warm metallic finish that recalls the other gold details of the One-Off models, while evoking the world of precision mechanics and the lights and atmospheres of opera tradition.

Furthermore, the redesign included software calibration, allowing more refined valve management and offering different tones depending on the driving mode and the engine start-up, while fully complying with homologation standards.

The end result is an authentic and rewarding acoustic experience that is true to Maserati tradition.

The interiors are also truly extraordinary; for the first time, the One-Off models introduce a GranTurismo cabin that blends Leather and Alcantara, creating a refined dialogue between natural materials and technology for a bold, contemporary pairing.

The leather comes in a bespoke burgundy that pairs with Nude Alcantara—once again as soft to the touch as the seats of an elegant theater hall. The stitching and dark Bordeaux red inserts evoke the colors, atmosphere, and refinement of the theater.

The chrome and interior trims have been hand-finished in gold paint using artisanal techniques that add warmth and depth to each surface, including the grille of the Sonus faber audio system, which comes in the same finish. The overall effect is made even more luxurious thanks to the real wood, red-painted poplar, covering the door and dashboard panels—a tribute to the art of Italian luthiery and the city’s rich musical heritage. This collaboration extends beyond partnership into product integration, embedding Sonus faber’s acoustic mastery directly into the heart of the Meccanica Lirica experience.

Finishing off these masterpieces is the new “Creata a Modena” badge on the driver-side door panel, underscoring the model’s exclusivity and its pride in its Emilian origins.

The end result is a unique, irreproducible creation—an embodiment of the bespoke craftsmanship that sets Maserati Fuoriserie cars apart.

The offer is rounded out by exclusive fine-wool car covers—one for the GranTurismo and one for the GranCabrio—which have been tailor-made to protect each car like a bespoke garment. The high-quality wool perfectly follows the contours of the bodywork and is embellished by grilles and patterns inspired by the gold Maserati and Trident logos. On the rear license plate, the inscription “Creata a Modena” takes the place of “Fuoriserie”.

Maserati Meccanica Lirica Pack

Emerging from the Maserati Fuoriserie experience and special One-Off models, the Maserati Meccanica Lirica Pack is a celebratory package that embodies Maserati’s philosophy of personalization, offering some distinctive features of the two creations across all the GranTurismo and GranCabrio versions.

In particular, the 20-inch front or 21-inch rear Crio wheels—Diamond Cut in a Matte Black finish with a Clearcoat Gold coating, and a matte black hubcap featuring a Matte White Gold Trident—complement the bespoke exhaust tips and White Gold Matte exterior badges. The features also include the front Trident in the same hue, Super Soft Wrapped burgundy leather interiors with tone-on-tone stitching, Nude Alcantara details with Campidoglio graphics, along with a black steering wheel, seatbelts, headliner, matching mats, and the exclusive “Creata a Modena” badge.

One of the most distinctive elements of the new celebratory package is undoubtedly the Maserati Meccanica Lirica exhaust tip—a design feature created specifically for the project to transform the language of sound into a visual form. Even though it doesn’t directly affect the sound, the new exhaust tip is the aesthetic expression of the engine’s sound, generating authentic and singular emotions.

The Meccanica Lirica Pack is available, upon request, with a dedicated color option— Rosso Velluto or Oro Lirico—capturing the elegance of the two One-Off models and reinterpreting it in a contemporary key. Naturally, customers may also select a different body color that better reflects their personal taste. The elements of the package cannot be chosen individually: the Meccanica Lirica Pack is a Fuoriserie exclusive, designed for those who see the purity of Maserati craftsmanship as the essence of an extraordinary experience.

In the full-electric GranTurismo Folgore and GranCabrio Folgore versions, the Meccanica Lirica Pack retains the same aesthetic language as the combustion versions, with a few differences due to the electric architecture—e.g., the exhaust tip and the dedicated wheels are not included—yet the package’s distinctive elements remain unchanged, ensuring complete stylistic consistency across all configurations.

The Maserati Fuoriserie Personalization Program

Fuoriserie is the ultimate expression of Maserati’s bespoke craftsmanship. It involves a process that starts with a conversation with the customer and offers the opportunity to personalize every aspect of the car—from the body colors to the interior materials, down to minute intricate finishing details—allowing one to be fully immersed in the configuration process.

It grants access to the widest range of exterior colors, liveries, brake calipers, wheels, and interior combinations. Supported by a personal designer, those who purchase a Maserati Fuoriserie become the stylist of their own car.

There are two levels of personalization: Catalogo and Bespoke. The former is dedicated to lovers of timeless style and admirers of Maserati tradition, while the latter represents the most exclusive expression of authentic tailor-made design, where cars are created with customer-specified features or as one-of-a-kind models.

To help customers navigate the thousands of possible combinations, two collections—Corse and Futura—have been created for the Catalogo level, and are soon to be joined by a third capsule called Unica. This is further proof of the vibrancy and dynamism of Maserati’s stylistic research, which is constantly focused on offering customers new opportunities for personal expression.

Specifically, the Corse collection draws inspiration from the Brand’s glorious racing heritage, while the Futura capsule is designed for those who enthusiastically embrace change and seek the most cutting-edge innovations. The offer is rounded out by the new Unica collection, which is based on the observation of annual sociocultural, material, and color trends, and dedicated to those who live in the moment and seek the boldest customizations.

Lastly, the pinnacle of tailored craftsmanship is reached with the Bespoke cars, where the experience becomes truly unique and creativity knows no limits. It’s about giving free reign to the customer’s vision in a completely irreproducible way, creating an exclusive relationship between Maserati’s creative team and the car owners to design a one-of-a-kind model. Bespoke is the Fuoriserie personalization program where dreams come true and a vision of extraordinary individuality is born.

As recently announced, Maserati’s Fuoriserie world of customization is now part of an extraordinary, broader project: BOTTEGAFUORISERIE.

This new initiative unites the creative energy of Alfa Romeo and Maserati, becoming a symbol of Italy’s extended Motor Valley—a premium automotive hub spanning Piedmont, Lombardy, and Emilia-Romagna and stretching from Modena to Turin and Arese, in the province of Milan.

Under the auspices of the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE, Italy’s most iconic creations will take shape: timeless bespoke cars, restorations executed with the utmost historical precision, sensory experiences, research into innovative materials, and a center dedicated to performance development.

3. Modena, the city of Maserati and the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant

Maserati headquarters in Modena

Modena has been the heartbeat of Maserati, the pearl of the Motor Valley, and the home of the Trident for almost 90 years. The Brand’s spirit lives and continually reinvents itself in this city—at both the historic Viale Ciro Menotti plant and the new Officine Fuoriserie, where its most exclusive creations take shape and stand out for their elegance, style, and performance. Today, the Trident’s cars reach more than seventy international markets, reaffirming Modena’s central role in the Brand’s history and future.

The bond between Maserati and Modena dates back to 1939, when the Orsi family acquired the Brand and began construction on the new headquarters on Viale Ciro Menotti. Since then, the connection between the House of the Trident and the Emilian city has never been broken, evolving in step with the challenges of the times and constantly pursuing excellence.

Maserati, founded in 1914 by Alfieri Maserati together with his brothers Ettore and Ernesto, moved from Bologna (Pontevecchio) to Modena—the main base of the Orsi family’s business—to produce new cars, invest in research and innovation, and become the most renowned Modena-based brand in the world. On January 1, 1940, the Viale Ciro Menotti plant—still home to Maserati’s facilities and headquarters today—officially opened its doors.

Some of the most significant and important cars in automotive history were produced at the Modena plant, including the 250 F—a Formula 1 icon and world champion in 1954 and 1957—and the Quattroporte—the first sedan equipped with a high-performance engine.

Within the gates of Viale Ciro Menotti, the most recent section—built at the beginning of the new millennium—houses the showroom, offices, and employee parking. Meanwhile, the historic section—built in the late Thirties—houses the production area with assembly lines, the testing area, the finishing department, and the brand-new paint shop equipped with innovative, environmentally sustainable technologies.

In 2020, the Modena site was renewed with the creation of the production lines for the new Super Sportiva Maserati MC20—the ambassador for Maserati’s new era—integrating the new paint shop and the area dedicated to the development and assembly of the new Maserati Nettuno engine.

This year, the Modena site celebrates three new milestones: the inauguration of the new Maserati Officine Fuoriserie, the start of production on the MCPURA—the pure expression of the Trident’s energy and performance—and the homecoming of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio to the very place where previous generations were born. It is a homecoming that honors tradition, celebrates the local area, and reaffirms Modena’s role as the cradle of Maserati excellence—the epitome of Italian luxury around the world.

Expertise and flexibility: the latest from the historic plant

The Maserati plant in Modena embodies the essence of Italian excellence—a place where human expertise, combined with production flexibility, reach exceptional levels in the automotive world.

This extraordinary adaptability has allowed Modena to integrate, in record time, the production of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio on the same line as the MCPURA.

In fact, the reallocation project took just 45 days to go from the last car produced at the Mirafiori plant in Turin to the first entirely built at the Modena factory, with zero impact on production capacity (up to seven cars per day at full capacity) or quality standards.

This achievement was made possible by a collective effort involving more than 200 people—Maserati technicians, workers, and engineers—over 300 operational activities, and 3,500 hours of training to transfer expertise, update processes, and ensure production continuity.

It was an exercise in industrial precision and agility, demonstrating the Modena team’s ability to integrate different models on the same line (MCPURA, MCPURA Cielo, GT2 Stradale, GranTurismo and GranCabrio—the latter two both in the combustion and 100% electric Folgore versions) while maintaining rhythm, efficiency, and the highest quality.

Production is organized into six main areas: the body line with the metrological area, the paint shop, the engine assembly line, the vehicle assembly line alongside the mechanical preparation areas, the testing line, and the finishing line. Compact yet sophisticated, the plant comprises more than 70 stations across all its stages. Moreover, the pride and joy of the facility is the new paint shop, which fulfills all production needs, including the Maserati Officine Fuoriserie personalizations, capping off a 100% Made in Modena experience.

A symbol of Maserati’s flexibility, the assembly line uses the AGV system (Automated Guided Vehicle) to transport the bodies and the TTS (Team Trolley System) to adapt in real time to the vehicle’s various configurations. This modular approach allows the plant to move from the MCPURA to the GranTurismo with the same line team, ensuring perfect ergonomics, quiet operation, and the utmost safety.

Logistics reflects the same philosophy of flexibility and innovation, as shown by the expansion of the DSV storage area, a leader in global transport and logistics. Already a Maserati partner for the production of the MC20 and MCPURA, the company has doubled the warehouse space adjacent to the production site, transforming it into a hub of efficiency and precision for parts management, line supply, and the optimization of production flows.

Likewise, the IT infrastructure was completely overhauled to integrate logistics and production into a single digital flow. Each vehicle requires the management of thousands of data points and “one-to-one” digital checks that ensure the complete traceability of each component.

The renovation involved the redesign of lines, bill of materials, and information flows, as well as the transfer and management of codes from Mirafiori to Modena. This evolution has created a more efficient and interconnected system, perfectly aligned with Maserati’s new industrial philosophy.

The testing areas have also been completely reorganized to accommodate the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio. The reconfigured and upgraded equipment can now test the technical specifications and performance of the new models, seamlessly integrating with the updated production processes and the plant’s technological evolution.

This innovation is paired to human ingenuity. The Maserati Modena plant is a place where passion comes alive thanks to highly skilled men and women with specialized training. In keeping with the brand’s artisanal tradition, the cars are hand-assembled. Automation is kept to a minimum, with only three robots across the entire plant—two for painting the body and one for precisely applying glue to the windshield and rear window before the delicate assembly phase.

With the return of the production of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio, the Viale Ciro Menotti plant reaffirms itself as a laboratory of innovation and a temple of craftsmanship, where flexibility is a philosophy, expertise is a culture, and each car is one-of-a-kind.

The Maserati Officine Fuoriserie and the new paint shop

A few months ago in Modena, the Officine Fuoriserie was inaugurated—a place where customers’ desires know no limits and the configuration process is enriched by an innovative paint shop capable of bringing dream cars to life.

Officine Fuoriserie is a complete bespoke journey, offering a seamless car-purchase experience—from the initial configuration to the dedicated factory delivery.

It begins in the showroom, in a newly renovated Fuoriserie lounge where customers can experience Maserati personalization in a truly immersive and sensory way. Customers can interact with materials, finishes, and colors—from the Catalogo or Bespoke personalization levels—observe the paint processes, and virtually configure their car using a state-of-the-art 3D configurator. Inside the Area there is also the exclusive Amati Folgore loudspeaker, a Sonus faber creation made to pay tribute to the collaboration. Thanks to special high-definition headsets, the digital simulator allows them to explore every detail of their vehicle.

The process continues in the production area, where manual paint preparation and quality checks are carried out before moving to the new, state-of-the-art paint shop to begin a highly advanced procedure. Here, the process unfolds in three stages: the cleaning room; robotized painting and resting; 80°C curing with a possible second curing. This concludes the artisanal personalization of the details.

In the new Officine, more than 20 stations are ready to paint models from the entire range, including of course the new GranTurismo and GranCabrio. The most advanced technologies occupy around 4,000 square meters, featuring an innovative paint shop that offers customers a wide selection of colors—constantly evolving in both chromatic range and technology—and a variety of liveries inspired by the Brand’s Corse and Heritage DNA. The renovated paint shop can paint up to 24 cars per day, handling up to 8 vehicles per shift for a total of 24 potential color applications daily.

At full capacity, the Officine Fuoriserie will employ up to 110 highly specialized experts, 40 of whom have already been trained to ensure the highest quality for Maserati’s tailor-made cars.

Maserati Classiche

Modena is also home to the Maserati Classiche Program, the department at the House of the Trident that safeguards and upholds the preservation and originality of its automotive heritage with an exclusive assistance service dedicated to the brand’s customers and collectors.

Launched in 2021 and located in the Maserati Officine, the Maserati Classiche Program also includes a Certificate of Authenticity process overseen by a committee of experts, and applies to Maserati cars over 20 years old as well as special series—including those from the recent past, such as the MC12 or the limited-edition Quattroporte. The program also accommodates vehicle maintenance requests and offers an on-demand, in-house Car Detailing service.

At the service of collectors and customers, the program provides comprehensive support for vehicle conservation and the restoration of original details. A dedicated assistance plan is available for Classic, Youngtimer, and Special car owners, covering both routine maintenance and restoration operations. One of Maserati Classiche’s core responsibilities is the reproduction of spare parts no longer available on the market. This takes place in full respect for the original design specifications, making use of the best available technologies and enhancing the reliability and functionality of the parts without altering their aesthetic integrity.

Maserati Classiche is supported by the Historical Archive—the inner sanctum of the House of the Trident—which safeguards the documentation of every single Maserati to have left the factory since the late 1950s. The Historical Archive continues its mission to provide Collectors around the world with documentation tracing each vehicle’s history, preserving serial records, accounts of the creation of every single car, and all the essential paperwork needed to reconstruct its original configuration.

Through the Classiche Program, Maserati goes back to its roots and reaffirms its vocation for excellence—a brand that has always known how to combine elegance and sportiness. After all, the Trident’s cars are not only masterpieces of engineering and innovation, but also expressions of a style that evolves without ever losing its identity, carrying forward a legacy that continues to inspire.

As recently announced, Maserati Classiche will also be part of the premium automotive project, the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE, which brings together the creative energy of two iconic Italian car brands: Maserati and Alfa Romeo. Within this new initiative, Officine Classiche will continue to safeguard and promote the historical heritage of both Brands. Its activities will include the restoration, certification, and recovery of historical models, ensuring that the legacy of Alfa Romeo and Maserati continues to inspire future generations.

4. GranTurismo and GranCabrio, the history of two iconic models

Presented respectively in 2022 and 2024, the new GranTurismo and new GranCabrio are the purest expression of the spirit of the brand’s hallmark Italian granturismo—cars capable of combining the high performance of a sports car with the comfort suited to long-distance travel. Available both in powerful combustion engine versions and in the most advanced 100% electric configurations, they set new standards and embody the concept of “Italian Luxury” around the world.

The story of the previous generations began in 2007 when the car was unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show, where it instantly became an icon. The 4-seater, two-door coupé, featuring Pininfarina’s classic design, was conceived as a modern interpretation of the 1947 Maserati A6 1500. Over the years and across generations, it would go on to become one of the most emblematic cars ever created by the Trident. In 2009, at the International Motor Show Germany, the GranCabrio would make its debut alongside the GranTurismo.

After several updates, the GranTurismo—before the arrival of the current model—reached its final version with the MY18, featuring an effective restyling that improved aerodynamics, ergonomics, and infotainment systems. Over the years, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio have achieved numerous successes: from 2007 to 2019, the previous generation recorded impressive figures, with more than 40,000 units registered worldwide (28,805 GranTurismo and 11,715 GranCabrio).

The last “Modenese” model was the GranTurismo Zeda in 2019, marking the end of production for the previous generation and virtually passing the baton to the “new GranTurismo,” which would follow a few years later. Production moved to the Mirafiori plant in Turin, and the model became the first in Maserati’s history to feature a 100% battery-electric propulsion system in its Folgore version.
