SenseNet Raises $14M Series A to Detect Wildfires Before They’re Visible with AI-Powered Camera, Sensor Network, and Satellites
Already protecting 130 million acres of wildlands globally, the new funding will help SenseNet expand in the US, the world’s largest market for wildfire prevention
SenseNet, a global leader in ultra-early wildfire detection, prediction, and management, today announced $14M in Series A funding led by Stormbreaker, along with Thin Line Capital, Fusion Fund, Plaza Ventures, FOLD36 Capital, and B Current Impact Investment. The company’s network of cameras, gas detectors, and satellites already protect 130M acres of wildlands worldwide and can detect fires in as little as three minutes before they’re even visible. The new funding will be used to expand the company’s presence in the U.S. with new offices and installations. The company’s total funding to date now surpasses $15M.
“SenseNet has developed a best-in-class solution to protect communities from the devastating impact of wildfires. Their combination of advanced sensing, simulation, and mitigation technologies represents a step-change in how we safeguard people and infrastructure,” said Shane Wall, Partner at Fusion Fund, former CTO of HP and White House Technology Advisor.
Wildfire’s Problem: Manual and Outdated Systems
Today, wildfire detection is still manual. Lookout towers, patrols, and 911 calls do most of the work. Many regions rely on old cameras and slow satellite feeds. These systems only trigger once the fire is too large to stop. False alarms waste time; real alerts often arrive late. Data is scattered across radios, emails, and siloed apps, so verification drags. During windstorms, those lost minutes turn a spark into a fast-moving fire.
“We’ve been fortunate to collaborate with SenseNet throughout the testing and validation phases of their system. Today, their technology provides Vernon’s responders, emergency managers, and support staff with real-time visual coverage of much of the city’s wildland interface. Beyond the clear benefits of early fire detection and notification, we’re leveraging the system to enhance situational awareness, anticipate operational needs, and model potential fire growth during incidents. I’m continually impressed by the SenseNet team’s rapid pace of learning and innovation.” - David Lind, Fire Chief, City of Vernon, B.C.
SenseNet’s Solution: AI Sensor Network to Detect Wildfires Before They’re Visible
SenseNet fixes this with one integrated system that finds fires early and helps stop them fast. Gas sensors detect fire-specific gases in the smoldering phase, often hours before smoke or flame. The sensors are built for harsh sites, run up to ten years, and don’t require battery change, cellular or satellite links. AI cameras watch 24/7 with 360° coverage and up to 50 miles range, auto-zooming to verify a plume. Satellite and weather feeds add the wide-area picture. All signals flow into one AI-based incident-management platform that sends high-confidence alerts, maps perimeters and hot spots, and forecasts spread up to seven days. Crews get one screen, fewer false alarms, and more time to act.
“This funding allows us to continue building the most comprehensive wildfire intelligence network in the world,” said Hamed Noori, Founder and CEO of SenseNet. “With wildfires intensifying across the globe, our mission is clear: detect and help to stop fires before they become catastrophic.”
SenseNet is already protecting 130 million acres (53 million hectares) across Canada, the U.S., Indonesia, Brazil, Chile, and other regions. It has more than 100 global partnerships delivering ultra-early fire detection and actionable intelligence at scale.
“Stormbreaker is thrilled to partner with SenseNet, a company that perfectly aligns with our thesis that technology for the connected ecosystem is the bedrock of innovation more broadly. Our high conviction in SenseNet stems from the company’s ability to reduce the enormous cost of fighting wildfires for governments and for insurers the prohibitive costs of recovery to a fraction of that through an intelligent investment in prevention. I can’t imagine many people would not prefer that to dealing with the devastating aftermath of the destruction wildfires can bring,” said Wade Oosterman, Partner at Stormbreaker.
“Wildfires are a serious problem, and they are getting worse - putting property and lives at risk. Thin Line Capital looks to back companies using data analytics to help address problems like this, and we were extremely interested to discover SenseNet’s approach to wildfire detection, and the success that they’ve already achieved in eliminating wildfire risk for their customers.” - Aaron Fyke, Founder and Managing Partner, Thin Line Capital.
