Rakuten Maritime Secures RINA Cybersecurity Certification, Strengthening Trust in European Markets

Rakuten Symphony announced that its Rakuten Maritime cybersecurity solution has received a Novel Technology Approval Statement from RINA, a leading global classification society and provider of engineering, inspection, certification and consultancy services. This new certification covers Rakuten Maritime’s core solutions, CYTUR SC-P (SCanner-Portable, Ship Cybersecurity Tester) and CYTUR TM (Cyberthreat Modeler).

Following its Innovation Endorsement from Japan’s ClassNK and the Cyber Security Award at the 2025 SAFETY4SEA Awards, Rakuten Maritime has now gained recognition from a European classification society, reinforcing a global trust framework that bridges Asia and Europe. This achievement sets a new international benchmark for maritime cybersecurity across shipping and shipbuilding industries.

Founded over a century ago and headquartered in Italy, RINA is one of the world’s top classification societies, trusted across energy, maritime and infrastructure sectors. The organization has been at the forefront of evaluating next-generation challenges including cybersecurity, decarbonization and digitalization.

The RINA certification highlights Rakuten Maritime’s innovative “Secure by Design” strategy, which integrates cybersecurity from the earliest stage of vessel design. Its solutions proactively identify and mitigate risks while meeting international standards such as the U.S. Department of Defense Risk Management Framework (RMF) and IACS UR E26/E27 requirements. This recognition reinforces Rakuten Maritime’s credibility in European shipbuilding and shipping sectors and strengthens the company’s ability to support global clients with secure, next-generation vessels.
