Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Macfadyen star in new Sky exclusive comedy drama, The Miniature Wife, coming to UK screens in 2026

Sky has exclusively acquired sharp, new US comedy-drama, The Miniature Wife, for the UK & Ireland ahead of the series screening at MIPCOM 2025. The series will air on Sky and NOW in 2026.

Marriage gets hilariously complicated in The Miniature Wife, when Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect, The Hunger Games) is unexpectedly shrunk in a technological mishap, much to the surprise of her husband, played by Matthew Macfadyen (Succession). Domestic life takes a turn for the perfectly mismatched pair, as their day-to-day turns into a razor-sharp battle for power.

The Miniature Wife is produced by Media Res Studio and distributed by Sony Pictures Television.

Katie Keenan, Group Director of Acquisitions for Sky UK and Europe, said: “We are thrilled to have acquired The Miniature Wife from our long-standing partners, Sony Pictures Television, and are excited to bring it to our UK and Ireland customers next year.  The show brings together an incredible all-star cast including some familiar and much-loved British talent. The on-screen chemistry between Matthew and Elizabeth is magnetic, and paired with quick, witty writing, the comedy drama from Media Res Studio is set to be one of the standout hits next year.”

Emmy-nominated Banks and BAFTA-winning Macfadyen are joined in the cast by Zoe Lister-Jones (Slip, Beau is Afraid), O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale, Presumed Innocent), Sian Clifford (Fleabag, The Ballad of Wallis Island), and Sofia Rosinsky (Paper Girls, Death and Other Details) as series regulars, and Ronny Chieng (The Daily Show, Crazy Rich Asians), Aasif Mandvi (Evil, The Daily Show), Rong Fu (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Hello (Again)) and Tricia Black (Small Achievable Goals, Pretty Hard Cases) in recurring roles.

The Miniature Wife, based on author Manuel Gonzales’ short story, is created by Jennifer Ames and Steve Turner (Boardwalk Empire, Goliath), who serve as showrunners and executive producers.

Greg Mottola (Superbad, Nobody Wants This) serves as a director (episodes 1, 2, 7, 8) and executive producer on the series. Banks, Macfadyen, Michael Aguilar (I’m Dying Up Here, Kidding), Suzanne Heathcote (The Crowded Room, Killing Eve) also serve as executive producers, alongside Michael Ellenberg, and Lindsey Springer for Media Res (The Morning Show, Pachinko).

The deal with Sony Pictures Television was negotiated by Katie Keenan, Group Director of Acquisitions for Sky UK and Europe, and Facundo Bailez, Head of Acquisitions for Sky UK and Europe.
