General Dynamics on Verizon Business Team Selected for Multi-Year Networx Universal Contract

WEBWIRE

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology will provide next-generation technical support services as a member of the Verizon Business-led Networx program team that was awarded the General Services Administration (GSA) Networx Universal contract on March 29. One of the largest federal communications contracts in history, the entire Networx program has an estimated potential value of about $20 billion over 10 years to all awardees. General Dynamics Information Technology is a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD).

The Networx Universal program will provide voice, internet protocol (IP), wireless, satellite and IP-centric services to 135 federal agencies in 191 countries. Networx is the successor to the FTS2001 contract, awarded in 1999, that provided telecommunications services to the federal government. The Networx program will modernize federal government communications and includes the adoption of the next generation of internet protocol, known as IPv6.

General Dynamics Information Technology is responsible for supporting and providing Customer Specific Design and Engineering Services (CSDES). Specifically, the company will design, implement and validate network architecture, and evaluate network technology alternatives. It will also provide engineering support and conduct simulation and testing on test bed facilities, as well as on equipment and applications on the contractor’s live network.

“Our experience leading and supporting major telecommunications efforts for both military and civilian agencies allows us to bring the greatest value to future Networx customers,” said Ray Whitehead, vice president of business development at General Dynamics Information Technology. “General Dynamics Information Technology is proud to be on the Verizon Networx team providing our proven network lifecycle services.”

This award builds upon General Dynamics Information Technology’s experience with large GSA and agency multiple award contracts (MAC). Among the company’s existing MAC contracts are ANSWER, Millennia Lite, CIO-SP2, VETS GWAC, EAGLE, SeaPort-e, NETCENTS and ITES-2S.

General Dynamics Information Technology currently provides similar services in the Pentagon renovation project, implementation of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet infrastructure, engineering of the Veterans Affairs network and implementation, operations and maintenance of select Department of Commerce networks.
