Alfa Romeo lights up Turin for Motor Show weekend

Turin – WEBWIRE
  • During the Turin Motor Show, the Italian brand is exhibiting in Piazza Castello the new Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4, the compact sports car with all-wheel drive that is experiencing growing success among a new generation of Alfisti fans.
  • At MAUTO, the New 33 Stradale and 1967 33 Stradale meet face to face, juxtaposing today’s instant classic – produced in 33 exclusive units – and the masterpiece by Franco Scaglione, one of the most fascinating cars in automotive history.
  • The Biscione brand’s new custom-built car is also taking part in the Revigliasco Car Festival as a special guest at the Concours d’Elégance, alongside a selection of vintage models and international rarities.

Turin confirms itself as the capital of the automobile with a weekend that combines past and future, innovation and tradition. From Friday through Sunday, September 26-28, three unmissable events – the Auto Show in Piazza Castello, the “The Art of Speed” exhibition at MAUTO (National Automobile Museum) and the Revigliasco Car Festival – will offer the public a journey through design and motoring passion, also intended to enhance the deep bond between Alfa Romeo and the capital of Piedmont, which has always been a privileged workshop for mobility. Three distinct events linked by a common thread, with Turin as the automotive capital where historic icons are not only memories but keys to interpreting the evolution of design and technology. The city also serves as inspiration in a tradition that remains alive and kicking.

The program begins in the heart of the city with the Turin Auto Show 2025, due to enliven Piazza Castello, Piazzetta Reale and the avenues of the Giardini Reali September 26-28, transforming them into an open-air stage. The automakers’ new models will be seen by the public among historic architecture and in a festive atmosphere; these will include the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4, the new, comprehensive variant of a model that has already exceeded 50,000 orders globally. A few days ago, orders also opened for the MY26, offering more customizations based on the number of versions available, made for differing requirements – from sportiness and elegance to the utmost in technology. It boasts the widest range of engines in the Premium segment, including 100% electric, two-wheel drive hybrid and Q4 hybrid all-wheel drive versions. The Junior Ibrida Q4 MY26 is now also positioned more accessibly in the Sprint trim, thanks to more competitive specifications that give an even broader public the opportunity to access Alfa Romeo driving pleasure with the safety of all-wheel drive.

The journey continues at MAUTO – National Automobile Museum (Friday 26 and Saturday 27, 10 am through 7 pm, last entry 1 hour before closing time). On show in the Museum atrium will be the New Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale and the legendary 1967 33 Stradale from the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese, recognized as one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Their encounter highlights Alfa Romeo’s extraordinary ability to transform each car into a dynamic work of art with the ability to thrill different generations with the same language of pure beauty, technical innovation, and timeless passion. The temporary exhibition of these two Made in Italy gems fits in perfectly with the collection at MAUTO, founded in 1933 by Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia. The museum houses over 200 original cars from 80 brands and retraces automotive history from the steam-powered carriages of the 19th century to contemporary prototypes. The exhibition itinerary provides visitors with an overview of the evolution of design and technique in dialog with the cultural and social movements of every era, while the Documentation Center and the Conservation and Restoration Center guarantee the daily protection and enhancement of a heritage like no other in the world.

Once again, the New Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale will be taking part in the engaging Car Festival Concours d’Elégance (Sunday 28), an international event recognized by FIVA that brings together masterpieces on four wheels from all over the world. Founded in 2022 on the initiative of Federico Ferrero and the Autoappassionati.it team in conjunction with local associations, the event transforms the charming village in the Turin hills into an elegant open-air stage with exhibitions, rallies and fashion shows. It all culminates on Sunday afternoon with the Tour d’Elégance, a spectacular catwalk starring the cars participating in the Concours d’Elégance. The special guest at this year’s edition will be the New Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, showing how a contemporary car can already be perceived as an instant classic.

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale

To make a dream come true, the essential ingredient is a good dose of courage and a pinch of healthy madness. This was the same recipe as for the car considered by many to be among the most beautiful ever: the 33 Stradale, launched in 1967. Two years ago, with the same boldness and vision, the Alfa Romeo team designed and developed the New 33 Stradale, an authentic work of art in motion, the upshot of the perfect combination of beauty and technology. More specifically, the Biscione brand’s new two-seater coupé combines heritage and the future. It is a true, unique work of art in motion that cannot be replicated, produced according to artisan processes, technological innovation and customers’ wishes. Its goal is to provide the most exciting driving experience and the immortal charm of an icon to a very small circle of enthusiasts, who have believed in the project ever since the outset. The new 33 Stradale was created at the new Alfa Romeo “Bottega,” where the brand’s designers, engineers and historians first met the 33 buyers to make a joint decision on their ideal configuration, exactly the same way as in Renaissance artisan boutiques, in the workshops of renowned Italian coachbuilders in the 20th century, when Alfa Romeo modeled its creations with the collaboration of these entities, all unique in the world. One of these was the renowned Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, which went on to leave its mark on some of the most beautiful Alfa Romeos of all time and now plays a leading role in the production of the New 33 Stradale. The sinuous lines that define its breathtaking design are combined with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that delivers 630 hp and offers extraordinary performance: acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds and a top speed of 333 km/h.

1967 33 Stradale

The 1967 33 Stradale was derived directly from the Tipo 33, the monarch of world motorsport in that era. Project 33 marked Alfa Romeo’s return to racing, led by the brand’s then President Giuseppe Eugenio Luraghi and by Carlo Chiti of Autodelta, the newly formed racing department. The time trial at Fléron, near Liège, was chosen for its debut. The driver was the chief tester at Autodelta, Teodoro Zeccoli. On March 12, 1967, the 33 entered the world of competitions. And it scored an immediate victory, in the first in a long line of successes on the most prestigious circuits that would take it to the roof of the world, with victories in the Championship for Makes in 1975 and ’77. On the wave of sporting enthusiasm, Alfa Romeo decided to produce the 33 in a very limited edition for private individuals, as a custom-built car that combined the performance of the Tipo 33 racing car with comfort and drivability suitable for everyday use. The design was entrusted to Franco Scaglione, who put all his technical expertise and creative daring into the design of the 33 Stradale, resulting in a masterpiece where innovation in style blends with the quest for aerodynamics and functionality. The design of the 1967 33 Stradale, the quintessence of beauty in a car, is almost impossible to describe: its expressions were the balance of its forms, the purity of its lines, the elegance of its every detail. Between 1967 and 1969, only 18 specimens were produced, one of which is kept today at the Museum in Arese, making it an extremely rare piece much coveted by collectors. Six of these chassis were used to make prototypes, which anticipated two decades of automotive design: the Carabo (1968), the P33 Roadster GS (1968), the 33/2 Coupé Speciale (1969), the Cuneo (1971), the Iguana (1969), and the Navajo (1976). In short, the 33 Stradale is a legendary model that has marked not only the history of Alfa Romeo, but also that of Italian design.

Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4

With the introduction of the new Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4, the Biscione brand redefines the concept of all-wheel drive in the premium compact segment. This model represents the technological pinnacle of the Junior line-up, now the broadest in its segment, thanks to a winning combination of performance, efficiency and versatility. At the heart of the Junior Q4, a hybrid 48-V system that combines a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine with 136 hp and two 21-kW electric motors, for a total output of 145 hp. The configuration includes an electric motor on the front axle, integrated into the six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and another on the rear axle, ensuring all-wheel drive without a physical connection between the two axles. This layout allows for optimal torque distribution and excellent traction in all conditions, with peak torque of 1900 Nm on the rear wheels thanks to the dedicated gearbox. A hallmark is Power Looping Technology, ensuring all-wheel drive even at low battery; the Q4 is therefore always ready to go. The system is automatically activated based on the slope and grip of the road surface, guaranteeing safety and control even on snow or in the mud or rain. The DNA selector offers the ability to adapt driving to individual preferences: “Dynamic” for maximum power and responsiveness, “Natural” for everyday use, “Advanced Efficiency” for optimized fuel consumption, and “Q4” for low-grip conditions. In Dynamic mode, all-wheel drive is active from 0 to 40 km/h, while in "Q4" it remains so up to 30 km/h, with intelligent switching to SMART Q4 mode up to 90 km/h. From a comfort perspective, the Junior Q4 introduces for the first time on this platform MultiLink independent rear suspension, with springs, shock absorbers and stabilizer bars designed ad hoc. This system ensures a smooth and precise drive, with improved handling and reduced understeer.  Aesthetically, the Junior Q4 stands out for its new “Legend” badge, 18” alloy wheels and Full LED headlights. Attention has been paid to the passenger compartment down to the minutest detail, with heated Spiga seats, leather steering wheel, 10.25” infotainment system with satnav, 8-color interior lighting and level 2 autonomous driving. In short, the Alfa Romeo Junior Ibrida Q4 is designed for a diverse, discerning clientele: sportspeople, professionals, families, and corporate fleets. A car with the ability to take on every mission with style, safety and performance, embodying the best of Alfa Romeo’s DNA.
