Scholastic’s David Saylor and Amulet Author Kibuishi Talk to The 74 about Kids Reading
The 74 recently interviewed David Saylor, Scholastic’s SVP, Graphix & Creative, about why–despite recent data showing fewer children are reading for fun–he’s optimistic about the future of kids’ reading habits. Saylor explains in the article that there have always been books and series that inspire kids to read on their own.
Scholastic author Kazu Kibuishi was also interviewed in the story and shared that the success of his nine-volume Amulet graphic novel series, published by Scholastic’s Graphix imprint, is proof that many kids are still invested in finding books they enjoy reading.
“I don’t really buy that kids are not reading anymore, because I see the opposite of that all the time. I find kids to be very good readers — and voracious readers,” Kibuishi said.
