Alexis Chalopin appointed VP European Affairs at Renault Group
Alexis Chalopin joined Renault Group as Vice President in charge of European affairs. Based in Brussels, he succeeds Jean-André Barbosa, who was appointed Director of International Public Affairs at Renault Group on 1st of July.
Alexis Chalopin strengthens the expertise of Renault Group’s public affairs teams and the company’s presence in Brussels. With his experience within institutions and in public policies, his mission will be to continue and maintain the dynamic of dialogue and cooperation with European authorities and stakeholders.
A pillar of the European economy, the automotive industry is now undergoing a major transformation to meet the challenges of the ecological and digital transitions. Renault Group, the spearhead of electric mobility in Europe, is taking part in the Strategic Dialogue initiated by the European Commission and is thus participating in the development of the conditions for maintaining the sector’s competitiveness, while respecting the decarbonization ambitions set out in the Paris Agreement.
I am delighted to welcome Alexis to our European public affairs team. His knowledge of both the sector and European issues will be key to the development of our activities in Brussels. We must now seize the opportunity offered by strategic dialogue to provide decision-makers with the information and context they need to make decisions on major issues. I am confident that Alexis will do so with the same constructive and objective spirit that has characterised the Renault Group in recent years", said Jean-André Barbosa, Director of Public Affairs at Renault Group.
Alexis Chalopin is a graduate of Sciences Po and the London School of Economics, where he specialized in European affairs and political economy.
He began his career as a public policy evaluator at Ernst & Young. He spent several years working to improve European public policies before joining the General Secretariat for European Affairs during the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. There, he contributed to the development of French and European positions, particularly in favour of the decarbonisation of industry.
Since 2023, he has held the position of Industry and Innovation Advisor to the French Representation to the European Union and Negotiator at the Council of the European Union.
