Memories.ai, an AI research lab building visual memories for AI, today announced the appointment of Chi-Hao (Eddy) Wu as its Chief AI Officer. Wu previously spent the last 5 years at Meta where he led generative AI research for generative intelligence applications. The company is also announcing the launch of a hiring program offering compensation packages up to $1 million to attract leading researchers from labs including Meta, OpenAI, Microsoft, xAI, and others.

How Memories.ai’s Solves the AI Video Problem with Large Visual Memory Model (LVMM)

Most AI systems today can analyze short clips in real time but quickly forget what they’ve seen after more than 15-60 minutes. This lack of visual memory makes it impossible for AI to understand context, spot recurring patterns, or track changes over time. To solve this, Memories.ai developed the Large Visual Memory Model (LVMM) to give AI persistent visual memory across long timeframes. The platform captures, structures, and indexes video over time, turning raw footage into a searchable memory layer that models can query for context, patterns, and change detection. Customers use LVMM to search months of footage in seconds, find scenes across large catalogs, analyze social video at scale, and bring memory to on-device experiences. With today’s announcement, the company is sharing it just surpassed 10M hours of videos analyzed for its LVMM.

“For the first 3 years of this generative AI revolution, the majority of advancements and value has been created in text,” said Dr. Shawn Shen, co-founder and CEO of Memories.ai. “Video is the most dense and entertaining format of information and we’re confident the next decade will see massive advancements with AI. We are working tirelessly to power that revolution.”

Key Hires and an Industry Leading Hiring Program to Keep Up with Large AI Labs

With Wu’s appointment as Chief AI Officer, he will lead research, safety, and evaluation for Memories and guide model and data roadmaps across products. He has 13+ years in applied machine learning and 7+ years in leadership at top tech companies, including Meta. He specializes in generative AI, multimodal AI, computer vision, and LLMs, and is known for turning research into scalable products. His work spans mobile apps, AI assistants, recommendation systems, and AR/VR, with experience in model improvement, on-device optimization, and large-scale data/ML platforms. He has 30+ top-tier publications and 20+ global patents. With the new hiring program, Memories.ai plans to stay competitive with the large AI labs who are offering millions, and even billions for AI talent.

“Video AI is poised to be a multi-trillion dollar industry in the coming years,” said Chi-Hao (Eddy) Wu. “Memories.ai is tackling this issue head on and I have no doubt that they will build the infrastructure needed to make video AI intelligent, predictive, and instant.”

Memories.ai was founded in 2024 by former Meta Reality Labs researchers Dr. Shawn Shen and Ben Zhou, and is backed by leading investors including Susa Ventures, Samsung Next, Crane Venture Partners, Fusion Fund, Seedcamp, and Creator Ventures.
