SPAR Slovenia has reopened its supermarket in Sevnica after a full renovation. The store, which has served the community for 15 years, was refreshed in just two months. Updates include a new exterior façade, a canopy, and a redesigned entrance with a windbreak. Inside, the store now features newly arranged departments and a modern look.

The store now has a fresh, modern interior with natural colours and materials, designed to meet today’s retail standards. A special focus was placed on fresh food, with a newly designed fruit and vegetable department at the front of the store. This area includes products from Slovenian producers, displayed on a wooden hayrack.

Expanded food offer and convenience

The bakery section offers bread and pastries in a buffet-style setup, and the delicatessen department has a new look. Customers will also find a well-stocked butchery and a fish market. A new section now offers a variety of ready-made meals, included with the renovation.  The store also features fresh SPAR To Go products, including sandwiches, salads, and other convenient meal options. Four self-service checkouts have been integrated for shoppers’ convenience.

Commitment to sustainability

Sustainability was a key part of the renovation. The store uses energy-efficient LED lighting and has a modern heating and cooling system. Eco-friendly closed refrigerators and freezers have been installed, and photovoltaic panels will be added to the roof to help reduce the store’s carbon footprint. Electronic price tags have replaced paper labels, helping to cut down on waste. A vending machine is now available adjacent to the store, so consumers can recycle glass packaging, as seen in many other SPAR and INTERSPAR stores across the country.

Customer service and accessibility

A team of 23 staff members continues to deliver excellent service and create a welcoming shopping atmosphere. There is parking for 95 vehicles, including 21 spaces on the upper floor, which connects to the store via an elevator.

Community support

To celebrate the reopening, SPAR Slovenia donated a total of €3,000 to three local organisations. Instore, customers could vote by using tokens to decide how the donation is divided among the local Volunteer Fire Brigade, the Mountain Society Lisca Sevnica, and the Association of Pensioners in Sevnica.
