Fashion Designer Bella Freud Brings Cult Favorite Podcast, Fashion Neurosis, to Vox Media
The partnership arrives as the breakout show prepares to expand with a subscription offering, international live events, and more.
Vox Media, the leading modern media company, announced a strategic partnership with fashion designer Bella Freud that will bring her acclaimed podcast, Fashion Neurosis, to the Vox Media Podcast Network. Since making its debut last year, Fashion Neurosis has rapidly become a sensation, climbing into the top 10 worldwide. Known for its innovative film-inspired visual approach, the show captures the beautiful neuroses, obsessions, and inspirations that shape the world’s most compelling minds, with guests that have included cultural luminaries like Lorde, Marina Abramović, Cate Blanchett, Christian Louboutin, Rick Owens, and many more. The partnership comes at a pivotal time for Fashion Neurosis, which is gearing up to launch a Substack expansion that will offer bonus content for paying subscribers, as well as tapings in new cities like New York and Paris. Vox Media will assume sales, marketing, and distribution duties for the show.
“Fashion Neurosis started as a way of telling the stories about fashion – to show how much more interesting it is compared to how it is portrayed in the media. I have always been interested in how we reveal or hide things through what we wear, how we do or don’t draw attention to ourselves. Clothes are another language: a way to communicate with people before any conversation starts,” says Freud. “I am excited to be partnering with Vox Media. They understand how to support new voices while helping them grow. I’m looking forward to bringing the show to even more listeners as we expand into new formats and new cities.”
Since launching her eponymous label in the 90’s, Bella Freud has redefined what it means to be a designer, seamlessly working across fashion, interiors, fragrance, film, and publishing. Along the way she has collaborated with leaders in these respective fields, shooting three films directed by the actor John Malkovich; printing a magazine entitled Memo with the late Anita Pallenberg; realizing a penthouse at the Television Centre home and office complex in London with architect and interior designer Maria Speake, the co-founder of the Retrouvius; and designing limited edition knitwear with singer-songwriter Nick Cave. Famed for her cool suits and ‘Word’ sweaters, her designs are worn by style makers including Kate Moss, Rashida Jones, Juliette Lewis, Zadie Smith, Sienna Miller, Olivia Wilde, Gabrielle Union, and Nick Cave.
“From the moment I saw a clip of Fashion Neurosis, I was captivated. Bella has crafted such a beautiful and contemplative show that soothes your nervous system and opens your mind,” says Vox Media’s VP for the podcast business Lillian Xu. “Through the lens of fashion and clothing, she draws out intimate and honest conversations that stay with you long after the episode ends. Fashion Neurosis brings such a visually striking and cinematic quality that expands our collective understanding of what a podcast can look and feel like. We are honored to work with Bella to continue building out the Fashion Neurosis universe and bring her singular vision to more people around the world.”
Fashion Neurosis will join one of the largest U.S. podcast publishers at Vox Media, a network that is home to some of the most influential shows and digital franchises including Pivot (hosted by journalist Kara Swisher and entrepreneur Scott Galloway), A Touch More (hosted by world-renowned athletes Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe), Waveform: The MKBHD Podcast (hosted by YouTuber Marques Brownlee), Stay Tuned (hosted by former Manhattan U.S. attorney Preet Bharara), Where Should We Begin?
