Your Golden Ticket Has Arrived! The LEGO Group Announces the Launch of the LEGO® Ideas Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory Classic Movie Set
Today, the LEGO Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, unveils the LEGO® Ideas Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, Classic Movie Set. This intricate model brings the candy-filled wonderland from the iconic 1971 film to life, designed as both a stunning display piece and an interactive build experience for nostalgic fans. As Willy Wonka famously said, “We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams,” now, fans can build their own dreams brick-by-brick.
Featuring nine minifigures, including Willy Wonka, Charlie Bucket, Grandpa Joe, Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, and two Oompa Loompas, the set invites builders to recreate memorable scenes from the beloved film. The figures can be posed throughout the factory’s colourful landscape.
The new LEGO set was designed by Italian-based duo, Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano, as part of the LEGO Ideas programme. LEGO Ideas allows fan designers to submit suggested sets, which are then voted for by the community before being made into a real LEGO set. Talking about their design, Ceruti and Padulano said, “Our inspiration came from the nostalgia and innocence of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory - it simply had to become a LEGO set. The build took about four to five months, starting with the iconic movie scene. Thanks to new LEGO pieces, we could update the design and overcome challenges like perfecting the bridge and balancing the candy tree’s look. Adding a motorised waterfall made the set truly special.”
This build is packed with authentic details including a chocolate waterfall that can be set in motion with a turning dial, the famous Wonkatania boat where Willy Wonka, the Oompa Loompas, and the five Golden Ticket winners can sit aboard. Augustus Gloop can drink from the chocolate river, with an alternative chocolate-covered face for his minifigure. Additional features include Willy Wonka’s office with a secret door, the Oompa Loompas’ work area, and candy cane trees and lollipop plants throughout.
