MERIDA athlete Calum McBain takes Enduro win at Ard Rock festival
MERIDA rider Calum McBain took a convincing victory on his ONE-SIXTY at the Ard Rock Enduro, the biggest bike festival in the UK.
Despite being up against some serious names in the sport, including an ex-World Champion downhill rider and numerous professional EDR racers, Calum put in a convincing win after battling through seven demanding stages.
With the notorious fickle weather playing ball and his luck holding against the rugged, tyre shredding North Yorkshire terrain, Calum and his ONE-SIXTY managed to keep his performance consistent, taking two fastest stage times to beat his nearest rival by just 0.69s over a total time of 17:36.86.
Upsetting favourites is something of a pastime for Calum, having previously taken victories at Scottish Downhill Association downhill races, despite riding an enduro bike. As well as being a top-flight racer, Calum also coaches other riders – you can find out what he’s been up to by following his Instagram account here.
