The New Yorker Festival Presents a First Look at Its 2025 Event Lineup

The Cultural Event Returns October 24th-26th, Celebrating the Magazine’s 100th Anniversary

This October, The New Yorker Festival will return to New York City, celebrating one hundred years of the magazine with a special weekend of live conversations, musical performances, screenings, and more. From October 24th to October 26th, The New Yorker’s acclaimed writers and editors will take the stage with some of the most compelling thinkers and artists of our time, bringing the magazine to life in this landmark cultural event. 

Selected programming is outlined below, with many more events to be announced on September 3rd. Ticketing information and further details are available at newyorker.com/festival.

This year’s New Yorker Festival events include: 

  • The writer Salman Rushdie in conversation with The New Yorker’s David Remnick
  • The actor, producer, and businesswoman Sarah Jessica Parker in conversation with The New Yorker’s Rachel Syme
  • The writers George Saunders and Zadie Smith in conversation with The New Yorker’s Deborah Treisman
  • The actor Jonathan Groff talks with The New Yorker’s Michael Schulman and performs.
  • The actor and writer Keanu Reeves and the actor and filmmaker Alex Winter in conversation with The New Yorker’s Naomi Fry
  • The former Chair of the Federal Trade Commission Lina Khan in conversation with The New Yorker’s Sheelah Kolhatkar.
  • The writers Garth Greenwell and Ocean Vuong in conversation with The New Yorker’s Cressida Leyshon
  • The artist Rashid Johnson in conversation with the curator Thelma Golden.
  • The architect Annabelle Selldorf in conversation with The New Yorker’s Rebecca Mead.
  • The writers Yiyun Li and Miriam Toews in conversation with The New Yorker’s Alexandra Schwartz.
  • A roundtable on the craft of Profile writing featuring the New Yorker staff writers Larissa MacFarquhar, Rebecca Mead, Ian Parker, Kelefa Sanneh, and Michael Schulman, moderated by The New Yorker’s Daniel Zalewski.

This year’s Festival is presented by Visit Charleston. 

  • The destination will gift custom tote bags to Festival attendees and host a free panel conversation on the joys of travelling to new locales. 

And the official hotel sponsor of the Festival is Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection.

  • The brand’s iconic property, The Algonquin Hotel Times Square—where some of The New Yorker’s founding writers and editors laid the groundwork for the magazine a century ago—will host the Festival’s V.I.P. Party, honoring its literary legacy. As part of the partnership, Autograph Collection will also premiere a custom video, created with The New Yorker Brand Studio, that celebrates the brand’s rich cultural history.

General Admission tickets will go on sale tomorrow, July 31st, at 10 A.M. E.T.
