Macrovision Corporation (NASDAQ: MVSN), the content protection, software licensing and digital rights management (DRM) specialist, today announced that Coventry University selected Macrovision AdminStudioTM to allow its network of 15,000 students and 2,000 staff migrate to a Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 Active Directory® Network.

Macrovision AdminStudioTM provides IT departments with the most advanced solution for quickly preparing reliable software packages for error-free deployment to any Windows OS including Vista. It helps to reduce desktop management costs; improve the reliability and availability applications; increase IT productivity and cut packaging time by up to 70% and most importantly, take the complexity out of migrating to a Windows Server™ 2003 environment.

Clive Teed, Principal Analyst Programmer at the university was given six months in which to complete his IT migration project by IT Services. His biggest challenge was to complete the migration with minimal disruption and zero downtime for the university’s users.

Started in September 2006, the project was completed ahead of schedule with all applications converted within five months. The biggest benefit that this migration project boasts is the automatic conflict resolution capability of a Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 Active Directory® environment.

Explaining the reason behind the project, he says: “Deploying software is one of the most common and important functions of any IT department. But if you don’t properly package software for deployment, you risk crashing critical applications, driving up support costs, slowing productivity, and angering end users. Macrovision AdminStudioTM has enabled a seamless migration and the ease-of-use that users now experience has increased overall productivity”.
