EPA awards over $8 million to the State of Louisiana to assist in administering environmental programs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently awarded an additional $4,822,996 in grant funding to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality for a total of $8,090,687 in fiscal year 2007. The funds will assist LDEQ in administering the state’s water quality program which seeks to prevent, reduce, and eliminate water pollution. The funds will also be used to assist in administering the state’s environmental management programs which monitor, abate, and control hazardous and solid waste and air pollution.
