World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC) returns to IAA MOBILITY: German-Chinese collaboration for climate-neutral transportation

The World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC), one of the most prestigious and internationally renowned conferences in the field of new energy vehicles (NEVs), will return to Munich in 2025 for the second time. Following its successful debut at IAA MOBILITY 2023, the WNEVC will once again play a prominent role at the international mobility trade show in Munich. In 2025, the focus will be on the strong partnership between China and Germany – particularly in the context of e-mobility and industrial innovation.

“The new phase of German Chinese cooperation in industrial transformation” as the lead topic

The WNEVC promotes technological advancement, innovation, and the development of electric vehicles, with the goal of strengthening global collaboration and communication in this critical sector and driving progress toward sustainable mobility.

Following six successful editions in China, the WNEVC is now solidifying its position as a leading global forum for climate-neutral transportation. Its participation in IAA MOBILITY highlights the global expansion of China’s premier e-mobility industry conference.

“The World New Energy Vehicle Congress has become a respected and internationally established annual conference in the field of electromobility and ranks among the most successful global platforms in this space. This collaboration is a powerful statement of the German Chinese partnership and underscores the international orientation of IAA MOBILITY. Both events share a common goal: accelerating climate-neutral mobility”, says Jürgen Mindel, Managing Director of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA).

Strong Chinese Presence at IAA MOBILITY
Since its debut in 2021, IAA MOBILITY in Munich has attracted a growing number of Chinese exhibitors. At IAA MOBILITY 2023, companies from Asia accounted for 41 percent of all exhibitors—doubling the share from 2021. The trend is continuing: Numerous leading Chinese companies have already confirmed their participation in 2025, including BYD, Dongfeng Liuzhou, Aito, smart, XPeng, Hesai, and CATL.

The 2025 edition of the World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC) will take place on September 10 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM as part of the IAA Summit at the Messe München exhibition center.

Under the motto “The New Phase of German-Chinese Cooperation in Industrial Transformation,” this year’s edition will highlight the evolving partnership between the two countries in the fields of e-mobility and industrial innovation.

The program will feature keynote speeches and presentations by leading representatives from automotive manufacturers, suppliers, startups, and technology firms from both countries. Topics include:

  •  Digital transformation and artificial intelligence
  •  Cross-border collaboration in industry and supply chains

Please note: Advance registration is required to attend this event—even for industry experts and members of the press.

Important: Journalists must present valid IAA press credentials.
