Berlin E-Prix: Two Key Races for DS Automobiles to Defend a Podium Place in Season 11

WEBWIRE
  • This weekend in Berlin, DS Automobiles will take part in Rounds 13 and 14 of Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship
  • DS Automobiles and its partner PENSKE AUTOSPORT are currently third in the standings and aiming to score as many points as possible at this penultimate event of the season
  • Jean-Eric Vergne and Maximilian Günther will be the key assets of the Franco-American team, which was triumphant at the Tempelhof circuit in 2020

On July 12 and 13, the temporary circuit at Tempelhof – located on the site of the former Berlin international airport – will host the penultimate E-Prix of Season 11 of Formula E.

A regular fixture on the electric series for over 10 years, the Berlin-Tempelhof layout is one of the most demanding on the calendar. With a particularly abrasive surface, it will once again present a major challenge for the 11 teams on the grid, who will have to manage tyre wear and energy efficiency carefully.

The scene of some exceptional races, Berlin is where DS Automobiles wrote some of the most successful chapters in its history, with the conquest of its second double title in 2020 and a total of nine podium finishes (including three wins) since the first Berlin E-Prix in 2015.

As for the drivers, Jean-Eric Vergne has taken seven podiums in Berlin –six of them with the French brand with a magnificent victory in the year of the world title– while Maximilian Günther also claimed a win at his home race in 2020.

More than ever, the DS PENSKE team has everything it takes to secure valuable points and hold onto its spot on the provisional championship podium before the grand finale in London at the end of July.

The Berlin races will take place next Saturday and Sunday at 4:00 PM CET.

Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance Director:
“Berlin-Tempelhof is one of our favourite circuits! It’s where we won our second double title, and we’re also the only manufacturer on the current grid to have won here three times. The main goal is to score as many points as possible to maintain our third place in the standings before the final showdown in London. Mathematically, there’s an even better result within our reach, but our competitors are very strong. Anything is possible in Formula E now, so we have to stay calm and give our very best right to the end"

Key figures since DS Automobiles entered Formula E:

  • 133 races
  • 4 championship titles
  • 18 victories
  • 54 podiums
  • 26 pole positions
