A shocking new two-part documentary, Poisoned: Killer in the Post, airing on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th July at 9pm on Channel 4, exposes a chilling international investigation into how a deadly poison was sold online and linked to nearly 100 deaths in the UK alone.

The series, produced by Wonderhood Studios, follows Times journalist James Beal as he investigates the tragic death of Tom, a young man who died by suicide using a lethal substance purchased online. Contacted by Tom’s grieving father, Beal uncovers a disturbing pattern of similar deaths occurring across the UK, US, Canada, Germany and Australia, all involving the same method.

As Beal delves deeper, he goes undercover into the dark world of online suicide forums and discovers a website allegedly distributing poison to vulnerable individuals worldwide.

His investigation leads to Kenneth Law, a former Canadian chef, now accused of sending over 1,200 packages of poison across the globe. Law is currently facing multiple first-degree murder charges in Canada and has pleaded not guilty. The UK’s National Crime Agency has connected Law to 99 deaths in Britain.

Featuring exclusive access to The Times’ groundbreaking reporting, emotional testimony from bereaved families, and Beal’s undercover work, Poisoned: Killer in the Post is a powerful and urgent exposé of how unregulated online spaces can become deadly and the devastating human cost left behind.

Samantha Anstiss, Chief Creative Officer, Wonderhood studios says: “This urgent and powerful series is testimony to the bravery of bereaved families determined to prevent further deaths and stop young people from being preyed upon online. BAFTA nominated director Joy Ash’s beautifully crafted series captures the high stakes and emotionally charged drama involved in undercover journalism and we are proud to partner with The Times and C4 Documentaries on one of the most important crime stories of our times. It crucially shows the power of investigative journalism to effect change and hold power to account”.

Wonderhood Studios’ recent commissions and productions include BAFTA, Rose d’Or and Broadcast nominated series Evacuation (Channel 4), The Trial of Michael Jackson, The Salisbury Poisonings, The Kidnap of Angel Lynn (Channel 4),Horsemeat A Very British Scandal (Sky) Dodi: Last Days of Playboy (Paramount+) Super Surgeons: A Chance at Life (Channel 4), and Devil’s Advocate (Sky Documentaries).
