I-SEC, Securitas and Trigion selected for new Schiphol security contracts

WEBWIRE

Schiphol is signing new contracts with three security companies for long-term cooperation. The preliminary award has been granted to I-SEC, Securitas and Trigion. Schiphol and these three selected companies are taking a joint step towards a new approach in security, in which quality, cooperation and employees are central.

I-SEC, Securitas and Trigion achieved the highest scores on six key criteria, including working conditions for security staff, passenger experience and the ability to respond flexibly to peak times. They also looked at cooperation with Schiphol, fair pricing and the overall picture of the proposal.

‘Security staff do crucial work at Schiphol. Quality of work is therefore very important in this tender. At the same time, a tender is an intensive and tense period for employees and companies. New contracts mean that some employees will have a new employer. We are therefore pleased that trade unions and security companies have agreed in a covenant that the starting point is that employees can stay at the same workplace with their colleagues as much as possible.

More grip and quality

With this award, Schiphol is taking a big step towards a new security model. The airport wants to get a better grip on implementation, ensure a more stable operation and structurally improve working conditions for security officers. The number of security companies will be reduced from five to three, and the terminal will be divided into three clear working areas.

Joint ventures
A separate company will be set up for each of the three companies, with Schiphol owning 25% and the security company 75%. These companies focus on equal and transparent cooperation, continuity, quality and job satisfaction. Security staff will be employed by these new organisations, which will provide a stable basis for carrying out security tasks. The contracts have a term of up to ten years. Schiphol is thus committed to a long-term relationship with its security partners.

Transition phase
Unsuccessful security companies can submit objections to the preliminary award. If no objections are filed, Schiphol’s selection will become final on 23 July 2025, after which the transition phase will start. During this period, careful preparations will be made so that the new security organisation can be fully operational from 2 March 2026.

About the tender
The provisional award is the result of a European tender that started in November 2024. In February, the security companies received the Programme of Requirements in which Schiphol clarified important factors, such as good working conditions, passenger experience, cooperation and a fair price. The security companies then submitted their plans, which were thoroughly assessed by teams of experts within Schiphol based on the set criteria.
