Final Preparations Underway for JavaOne Conference May 8-11 in San Francisco

With less than two weeks until the Conference opens, Sun is announcing the full JavaOne conference cosponsor list, general session details, the 2007 “devices of the show”, JavaOne Camp and the .org pavilion.

JavaOne Conference Devices

JavaOne Camp is a new unconference activity open to JavaOne conference attendees and speakers. The content of the sessions will be driven and created by the participants around the theme of “The Future of the Java Platform”. JavaOne Camp will kickoff on Tuesday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m. at the Argent Hotel in San Francisco and be held Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. For JavaOne Camp, there will be about eight different rooms and four or five different time slots (across the two days) which means there will be opportunity for a lot of different discussions to take place. .org Zone

This year the JavaOne 2007 conference has a strong focus on Free and Open Source software and includes a full track of sessions on open source technologies and communities. In addition, for the first time, there will be a new .org Zone as part of the JavaOne pavilion. .org Zone is dedicated booth space for non-profit .org communities to drop in and participate during exhibit hours. Open source communities driving key Java technology initiatives are expected to attend including: PostgreSQL, Apache Derby, GlassFish, OpenJDK and the Mobile & Embedded Community. Other new and upcoming open source communities will also attend, including Project GreenFoot and the OpenID community.
