Update on our propane dehydrogenation plant (PDH2) construction project in Kallo, Belgium

Vienna, Austria / Kallo, Belgium – WEBWIRE

This update follows previous articles and provides an update on the project’s progress and key developments. The actions described in our March 2024 update have been successful and remain in place.

Construction Status Update status end of year 2024

The Kallo PDH2 project made significant progress in 2024, reaching more than 90% completion. In 2025, we expect that the remaining construction activities will be completed and all systems for the PDH plant will reach full mechanical completion during the year. In the second half of 2025, the focus will shift from mechanical system completion to the commissioning, plant energization and PDH plant start-up planning phase.

Plant start-up is planned for Q2 2026.

Social compliance and governance

In 2024, we continued to emphasize the importance of social compliance at the project construction site by closely monitoring the measures implemented to ensure that all legal requirements are met by our contractors. This includes regular briefings with main contractors, regular audits, a due diligence process for subcontractors and the removal of non-compliant subcontractors.

Looking ahead

As we move forward, we remain committed to the safe, compliant and successful completion of our Kallo PDH2 project. We look forward to the commissioning and start-up phases in 2025 and 2026, respectively, and the positive impact this project will have on our operations and the industry as a whole.
