Barnes & Noble Opens New Store in Southbury

 Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Southbury, CT bookstore on Wednesday, June 18^th. The new Barnes & Noble is located in the Southbury Green shopping center (775 Main St S., Southbury, CT 06488), in the space formerly occupied by GAP, across from Home Goods.

The new Barnes & Noble will officially open to the public at 10AM ET on Wednesday the 18th, with author Terri-Lynne DeFino cutting the ribbon and signing copies of her books, including her newest release, Didn’t You Use to Be Queenie B?

The bookstore showcases the highly lauded design seen in the most recent Barnes & Noble store openings, featuring all the best books, toys, games and gifts that customers have come to expect from the nation’s premier bookseller.

“We are very pleased to add another new Barnes & Noble to our fleet of Connecticut bookstores,” said James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble. “We are especially happy to take over one of the largest storefronts in Southbury Green. Our Southbury booksellers have been diligently stocking the shelves with a selection curated for the community and are eager to welcome customers into their brand-new Barnes & Noble.”

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than 15 years of declining store numbers. In 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019. The bookseller expects to open over 60 new bookstores in 2025.

The Southbury location is one of three new Barnes & Noble bookstores set to open in June, alongside new stores in Arizona and Virginia. Each grand opening has drawn enthusiastic crowds that wrap around the building, filling the store as the ribbon is cut.
