Virgin Island to Come Again for Second Series
- The show is Channel 4’s biggest new unscripted series launch for 16-34s since modern records began
- Series 1 has already been streamed almost nine million times (partially consolidated)
Channel 4’s youth streaming hit, Virgin Island, has been recommissioned for a second series as it continues to smash streaming records amongst 16–34-year-olds.
Having become one of the most talked-about shows of the year, the series has shot to the top of the list of Channel 4’s new unscripted series launches for share of 16-34s since modern records began, overtaking recent hits such as The Jury: Murder Trial and Late Night Lycett, as well as classic titles such as Supernanny and the original series of Married at First Sight.
In its first 28 days, episode 1 has become Channel 4’s most watched show for 16-34s in 2025 so far, sitting ahead of established formats such as Taskmaster, Married at First Sight Australia and Gogglebox. And with a series average of 1.4 million viewers per episode, Virgin Island is Channel 4’s biggest streaming hit of the year, across both scripted and unscripted programming.
For volume of 16–34-year-old viewing this year, Virgin Island outperforms titles such as Race Across the World, Dr Who and Gladiators.
The full series has, so far, accumulated almost nine million views on streaming – with final figures for later episodes still to be consolidated.
The groundbreaking and heartwarming series follows 12 adult virgins, as they travel to a luxury Mediterranean retreat to embark on a unique course in intimacy, to see if it can help them overcome the fears that are holding them back. This warm, authentic and thought-provoking series explores these issues as some of the world’s leading sexologists take the twelve courageous virgins on a unique, hands-on programme, to help them take their first steps towards sex and intimacy.

Ian Katz, Chief Content Officer, “Virgin Island is the kind of show only Channel 4 would make, exploring an important but under-discussed social issue with warmth, sensitivity and wit. We’re delighted that it resonated with younger viewers and that the men and women who took part found it such a constructive experience”.
Virgin Island Commissioning Editor, Jonah Weston, said: “It’s been such a thrill to watch this show catch fire. This is a live issue among young people, and from the brave cast to our wonderful experts I don’t think I’ve ever worked on anything quite so bold, warm and well-intentioned. Watch out for season 2 which will be bigger and bolder than ever!”
Series one participant, Dave, said of his experience: “I had an amazing time on the Island, and I’m truly thankful for the time I spent there. Anyone who has watched the show will have seen how much my confidence grew over the course of the series, and I can’t speak highly enough of the experts and production team for making us feel so safe and secure. I was lucky enough to achieve the ultimate aim of the series whilst on the Island, and I can’t wait to see the next group of participants go on the same journey – I would wholly encourage anyone with enough courage and resilience to apply, it’s completely changed my life.”
Executive Producer, Rob Davis from Double Act Productions said, “We’re absolutely delighted with the success of Virgin Island. Its bold and fresh approach clearly struck a chord with the younger generation.”
The complete series of Virgin Island is available to stream on Channel 4 now.
Virgin Island was commissioned by Jonah Weston, Commissioning Editor, Specialist Factual alongside Shaminder Nahal, Head of Specialist Factual and Genna Gibson, Commissioning Editor, Entertainment and Reality. Series two is an 8 x 60’ made by Double Act Productions for Channel 4. The Executive Producer for Double Act is Rob Davis. The second series is due to air in 2026.
