Goodyear launches the new Goodyear URBANMAX tire, designed specifically for city buses and urban transport environments. Engineered to handle frequent stop-and-go traffic and constant sidewalk contact, the Goodyear URBANMAX tire offers enhanced durability and fuel efficiency compared to its predecessor, making it a suitable choice for modern urban mobility.

CONNECTING LONGEVITY WITH ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Goodyear URBANMAX features a full silica tread compound that delivers up to 40% higher mileage than its predecessor[1] while delivering low rolling resistance (label “B”) and strong wet traction (label “B”), both achieved by using a compound with high silica content. With a four-rib tread design, additional sipes, and deep grooves with stiffeners, the tire provides consistent handling, even wear, and reliable traction in various surface conditions.

The reinforced sidewall with wear indicators enhances durability, offering long-lasting protection against aggressive curbstones—a key advantage for urban fleets. Additionally, Goodyear URBANMAX is regroovable and retreadable, helping to further extend tire life and reduce total cost of ownership for urban fleets thanks to Goodyear Retreading solution.

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY ON URBAN MOBILITY

Some of the Goodyear URBANMAX tires will also feature Goodyear’s EcoReady Technology, designated that this tire is made with 40 percent sustainable materials[2]. This includes the use of Rice Husk Ash Silica (RHAS), with its sustainable content attributed through the Mass Balance approach. [3].

Goodyear URBANMAX is launched in the size 275/70R22.5[4]. Thanks to its B-label in fuel efficiency and A-label in noise, the tire can also help customers to demonstrate their alignment with EU Taxonomy[5] and support advances in sustainable mobility.

OPTIMIZED FOR ELECTRIC, HYBRID & DIESEL VEHICLES

As cities transition to next-generation transportation solutions, Goodyear URBANMAX is EV Ready, meaning it is engineered to support diesel, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles. The tire’s increased load carrying capacity ensures optimized performance for heavier EV bus models compared to its predecessor, providing reliability across all drive configurations.

A FUTURE-READY SOLUTION FOR URBAN TRANSPORT

Equipped with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Goodyear URBANMAX enables seamless integration with digital fleet management systems. The RFID tags allow tracking at an individual serial number level, improving tire flow management and operational efficiency for transit authorities and fleet operators.

Goodyear URBANMAX tire represents the future of urban transport, combining improved mileage, fuel efficiency, and the use of sustainable materials in its production,” said Xavier Fraipont, VP Commercial PBU EMEA. “Compared to its predecessor, this new tire helps to ensure that city bus fleets can operate with better reliability and lower costs while also contributing to more sustainable urban mobility.”

“With Goodyear URBANMAX, we’re not just launching a new tire—we’re delivering a solution tailored for the evolving demands of city mobility,” said Maciej Szymański, Marketing Director Commercial EMEA. “Key elements of this tire are designed to support the realities of modern urban transport—from frequent stops and tight turns to the growing need more efficient operations.

Goodyear URBANMAX complements the existing Goodyear URBANMAX COMMUTER and Goodyear MARATHON COACH tires, providing fleet operators with a comprehensive portfolio tailored to the full spectrum of urban and intercity mobility needs.

Goodyear defines sustainable material as a bio-based (defined as material of biological origin (Source: ISO 14021)); renewable; or recycled (defined as material that has been reprocessed from recovered [reclaimed] material (Source: ISO 14021)) material; or one produced using or contributing to other practices designed to promote resource conservation and/or emissions reductions, including ISCC PLUS mass-balance (defined as a certification verifying our capability to track the amount and sustainability characteristics of circular and/or bio-based material in the value chain and attribute it based on verifiable bookkeeping (Source: www.iscc-system.org/certification/chain-of-custody/mass-balance/)) material.
