Smaller store format features a Juice & Java venue and more than 400 local products from 100+ Northeast-based suppliers

NEW YORK – WEBWIRE

Today, Whole Foods Market opened the second location of its smaller format store concept, Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, located at 409 East 14th Street in the StuyTown development of New York City’s East Village. The 10,000-square-foot store includes a Juice & Java venue, offering coffee, tea, juices, smoothies, sandwiches, and various desserts. The new location’s product assortment features more than 400 local items from the Northeast, each meeting Whole Foods Market’s rigorous quality standards.

“We are excited to open the second Whole Foods Market Daily Shop location and to join the StuyTown community. This store is unique and reflects the energy, diversity and culture of the neighborhood we serve,” said Christian Damaso, Store Team Leader for Whole Foods Market Daily Shop. “We’ll be stocked with fresh, high-quality ingredients and prepared foods – whether they’re picking up coffee or a smoothie, grabbing lunch to-go, or doing their weekly grocery shop – we look forward to welcoming our customers into this new space.”

On opening morning, customers were treated to complimentary coffee and breakfast bites, and the first 300 customers in line also received a limited-edition tote bag.

Additionally, on opening morning, Whole Foods Market presented Harlem-based supplier Uncle Waithley’s with a low-interest loan through the grocer’s Local Producer Loan Program (LPLP), to help grow their operations and support expansion to more Whole Foods Market locations. Through LPLP, Whole Foods Market lends money to small-scale, local or emerging producers to help them grow their businesses. To date, the retailer has provided over 408 loans, representing roughly $34 million in capital for recipients.

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting local communities, Whole Foods Market contributed in-kind product to support the work of The Bowery Mission. Whole Foods Market will also make a donation to local nonprofit Nazareth Housing.

In April, Whole Foods Market also announced a third Whole Foods Market Daily Shop location will open in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood on June 4. Find more information on the features and product assortment in both the now open StuyTown and soon-to-open Hell’s Kitchen locations here.

Future Whole Foods Market Daily Shop locations are also planned for Hoboken, N.J., and Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood.

The StuyTown store will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. For more information on the store, visit https://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/stores/stuytown.
